The 'silly' war in Iraq produces a democracy
Are you hot? Are you cold? Do your teeth hurt? Well, it's George Bush's fault.
Recently, a writer laments the shifting channels and shoaling of North Carolina's coastal waters. Why, some of the inlets are not easily navigable at low tides. And it's Bush's fault, he barks, for deferring funds from the Army Corps of Engineers to dredge our shoals, instead fighting this silly war in Iraq.
As a former yacht owner, I know North Carolina indeed has the most unreliable, yet most beautiful, coastal waters in America. But if this very unhappy man must file the nicks from his little outboard propeller or replace a fishing lure for one he lost on a snag, the world's newest democracy thanks him from the bottom of their hearts for his deep sacrifice.

The Tsunami, the hurricanes last summer, the power outages in New York, the AIDS epidemic, September 11th, hungry kittens and puppies, the trade deficit high oil prices, the cost of milk, the fact that Classic Coke doesn't really taste as good as original Coke, the Panthers losing in the Super Bowl. All these and many more are President Bush's fault. Guess the buck has to stop somewhere.

Yep, in their unbridled quest to regain power and money the liberals blame our president for everything from the weather to the baseball scores.
The demonize him and try to sell us on the idea that the liberal Dems are the saviors of the world.
Thanks goodness most of our country just ignores them.

Lost your yacht. Must be Bush's fault. We feel your pain.
Listen, I hope that some goodness comes from the war in Iraq. We have caused tens of thousands of innocent deaths. The "freedom is on the march" folks always seem to gloss over that inconvenient fact. I am old enough to remember when the worlds "newest democracy" was the Republic of South Vietnam. Millions died there.
When our troops come home and Iraqis still elect their leaders; then they'll be a democracy.

Ricky Glenn,
You wrote: "Thanks goodness most of our country just ignores them."
That's why 48% of the votes in last years election were cast for the "most liberal senator alive today". The liberals cannot be ignored because we are quite a force.
It's the neo-conservative, christian psycho-blather that is beginning to be ignored and wrote off as "those people".

Brian, apparently you're mathematically challenged as well.
52% IS most.
And MOST of the votes for Kerry were really votes against Bush after the massive and fraudulently presented major liberal news media bashing of rhe conservatives for years. Remember, most people form their political opinions from the news they read and hear, and 80% of the news is liberally biased. So actually only a small percentage of voters for Kerry were actually voting for him.
Yes, you're quite an interesting little "force"...LOL.

Brian, in addition to being mathematically challenged, your grammar is defective as well. In your closing "wrote off" (sic) there is no such phrase in this language and it should be "written off". If you weren't the Child that was Left Behind, then go back to school. Do you understand the "sic" part?

To Ricky Glenn, I must agree with you that only by the Iraqis electing and maintaining their own governments have we truly "won" the war for democracy. As for the innocent deaths, we did not cause them as they were being slaughtered wholesale long before we arrived. Yet, as do you, I mourn them much in the same way that I mourn our own allied WWII deaths as we liberated Europe. Wars are not good, just the lesser of some evils.
As for my yacht, I did not "lose" it. Rather, I sold it, and at a handsome profit, thank you.
In closing, my friend, I shall impart to you: "For evil to triumph requires only that good men do nothing."
