U.S. Senate needs a good housecleaning

It's time to do away with the U.S. Senate. Just one good Senate "hearing" with D.H. Griffin, and we would never have to close another military base.

Closing the Senate is easily justified. "Guilt by ego-association" would work. The ego-survival game between Kerry, Kennedy, Clinton, Byrd, Warner, McCain and Graham must stop.

The people have perfect grounds to plead self-defense.

Senatorial incompetence, erroneously referred to as "decorum," is ample evidence for a nuclear implosion. They have a sterling record of incompetence. The non-impeachment of President Clinton comes to mind.

Their value system, which honors and treasures filibustering above all else, garners top marks in malfeasance.

If "dereliction of duty" were announced in the Senate, 100 senators and all their staffers would run for cover.

Case in point: Voters empowered conservative legislative and executive branches of our government for the purpose of selecting conservative judges.

Obstructionists from the Senate left derelicted first, only to be out-derelicted by 14 turncoats, seven each stabbing their respective parties in the back.

Now, "bait and switch" can be tacked on. Instead of living up to campaign promises, they've delivered treason, cowardice and malice.

And we didn't get around to the scandalous Senate pensions.

H.T. Thetford

Since you are talking about senate garbage I would like to point out you omitted the two largest mounds of garbage, Frist and DeLay.

As a general ule, I don't vote for incumbents.

I second your motion, and would also move to eliminate gerrymandering.

Ok, I'm going in with my pesticides.... may the strongest survive. :)
PS To the law enforcement community reading this, I'm ONLY JOKING.

Great idea Mr. Thetford, the sooner we're rid of all those pesky repubs the better off we will be.

Tony said:

I was with Thetford until s/he only identified the more liberal side of the senate. The conservative side is just as bad! I know of at least 5 people on this blog whom I would rather see in there working for the "good of the people".

Amen Yvonne & Lilly!

Tony,

I think some of the people listed are Republicans. The writer accused all 100 senators in his statement about dereliction of duty. That's ALL senators. Not that all this griping is going to do any good.

Dan said:

Yvonne, if we get rid of Frist & Delay, can we also trade out Kennedy and Robert "KKK" Byrd? I won't even touch Hillary, that might get you steamed.

Yvonne said:

Dan, It's a deal! Thanks for the laugh. Now if we can just figure out how to pull this one off....

Paul Elledge said:

Lilly,

This government doesn't care whether you're just joking. They'll arrest you only for that. You're probably now on their watchlist. You may even get arrested. Being an active member of the Libertarian Party who regularly criticizes the government, I shudder to think how many watchlists I'm on.

Yvonne,

The way to pull it off is to increase our dialogue in order to convince others to stop voting in this scum.

"It is the duty of the patriot to protect his country from its government."
--Thomas Paine

Paul,
Don't be so paranoid, man! Those government guys aren't watching us. I mean look at me, always complaining that our gov't is derilect, posting signs of anti-gov't propaganda, e-mailing Bush and telling him exactly what I think of him. Hold on a sec, someones at the door ..................

Lilly said:

Paul, I would hope they have better things to do with their time than to read blogs and arrest people, but I know first hand they do not.
While they should be out looking for Abdoul and Mohommud, or reading what THEY post, but instead they sit comfortably behind their desks reading message boards to gather "evidence" against people to arrest, for exercising their first ammendment rights, and we pay them to do it.
If I get arrested, does your party have attorneys that could get me out of jail at least? LOL.

I like the spraying for "roaches" idea Lily, but remind you that they all scurry to a hiding place when the light of scrutiny is shining bright.
Paul that Paine quote is right on the money. You'd be surprised at what our lengths our present empirical government will go through to keep its glorious leader (or another of its puppets) in place. Yeah, we're all on the hit list. Just like those other guys from the father-land, anyone who doesn't tow the party line or speaks against the status quo is fair game to investigate. Big Brother is watching all these forums. They have the search engines and manpower to do it. Don't think they do? Look at the deficit. Wonder wher the all that money went? A chunk of it goes to keep us safe and them in power. Although we don't have any constitutional guarantee to privacy we should have a right to free speech, etc. Thank you Patriot Act for decimating our civil liberties.

I can see by the cynical responses why we have the representation that we have. Over 10 responses and not one positive, constructive comment. Enjoy the humor while you still have a democracy to laugh at.

There goes that chicken little with the sky falling syndrome you suffer from Kurt. Maybe since you're a doc you can look into that.

Please fill us in on when our democracy will cease to exist. You will probably say while Bush is in office & it's all his fault.

Lilly said:

kurt, I would like for you to tell us one positive thing the patriot has done for people in this country who are OBVIOUSLY from here. The govamint uses it to harass american citizens, instead of keepint up with Mohommad, Bin Laden, and the LIKE. Which most americans thought the law was designed to do. Instead it has given more power to already over zealous law enforcement agencies and AMERICANS who are NOT terrorists are being arrested every day.
I cannot think of one thing this law has done for Americans. Americans have lost more privacy under the patriot act than any other law that was enacted in history.
So we should be dancing in the streets? Rolling our missles down main street? What? You tell me one good thing the patriot act has done for AMERICANS, I'm willing to listen.

Paul Elledge said:

Actually, Kurt's right, Lilly. I think you missed his point. He wasn't saying we should praise the PATRIOT Act; he was saying that instead of complaining, we should offer ideas on how to fix things. I myself have identified this as one of my faults--complaints without offering constructive ideas.

I'll try to heed your advice, Kurt.

Lilly said:

maybe so Paul, but I still meant what I said. Besides, what can we DO about it anyway?

Paul Elledge said:

Lilly,

What we can do about it is stop voting for people who would pass such bills as the PATRIOT Act. Vote Libertarian.

I have written to both Burr and Dole about the shameful abuse of veterans at the hands of the bush administration. They have cut every service offered to veterans, including those who have lost their health and body parts to the current war. I wrote to them both demanding an explanation of their vile treatment of veterans. Dole never had the guts to reply (grounds for removal, in my opinion). Burr replied, offering a silly justification that he would support a future bill increasing the budget for veterans affairs. Not enough, Mr. Burr. This state has more veterans than any other. We served proudly and you have let us down. Please remember when the election comes around: Burr and Dole do NOT support veterans. They do NOT support our fighting men. They have supported the lies of George Bush at every turn. They do not deserve your vote.
