Bloated county budget rife with pet projects

I have just read with true amazement and disgust the commissioners' budget for the upcoming fiscal year. An $11 million increase for an already bloated and inefficient school system, but no new sheriff's patrol positions (where is public safety when you need it?).

A 41 percent pay increase for the commissioners? Whatever happened to the idea of public service? If you do not like the current salary, why not resign and, hopefully, we can get some true leadership. And another tax increase for property owners.

When are people going to realize you cannot keep funding pet projects on the backs of the taxpayers?

Oh, and speaking of pet projects, I do not want any of my tax dollars going to any project that Skip Alston has his hands in. As a matter of fact, the next time he is up for re-election, why don't we just "Skip" Alston?

All Skip needs is a little love and a day at Chakras.

We need someone of integrity, that Alston's voters will vote for, to run against him. As long as people are drones and vote on race alone (I'm pointing figures at all sides here) we will continue to get the same crooks we have now. Alston and his cronies have wasted millions of dollars of tax payer's money. Where (other than here) is the public outrage??

The politics in this county will never change unless people like Alston are voted out! Someone said on another board about changing to all at-large seats. If that the only way to drain the swamp, (as so aptly put on another blog) so be it!

Everyone is upset over the commissioner raises and pet projects, what about the school board raises? Did these people not understand the work involved and the pay rate in these PUBLIC SERVICE jobs? Don't forget the Raleigh Democrates, spending 14 million as they wish, to help themselves or friends at our expense and raise taxes to further the tradition. As Mr Black said this has been a tradition for years, no wonder we have higher taxes and not tax cuts.
