Rescue children first, then save their pets
Now that all the children have been rescued and accounted for in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, we can turn to the more important task of rescuing their pets.

Okay. I was going to let this pass, but I've got to ask. Do you believe that rescuing pets is 'more important' than rescuing children?
Cause that's exactly what your words say.
Or were you being sarcastic?

Good point on the more important task comment. I missed it the first time. I simply don't agree however, life is life. To some people their pets are their chilren. I believe that all life is precious, and that sometimes the poor animals are the only ones who really are helpless and dependant. I would never, ever say that the life of a child should be sacrificed in order to save an animal. I just don't feel that the importance of life is exclusive one way or the other. I may be speaking simply here as the owner of a dog that I could neverm ever leave to fend for herself.

I can understand that. I love my cat. I believe God created him and loves him too. I imagine God loves all his creations in some ways.
If I had to choose between my cat drowning and my son drowning, I'd choose my son EVERY time.
If I had to choose between someone else's kid and my cat drowning, I'd choose my son EVERY time.
In that way, in my mind anyway, the importance of life is exclusive.
Having said that, my cat is actually much less dependent than my kid.

What I meant to say above is that I would choose a stranger's child over my cat any day.
