Democratic senators' protests unbelievable
If this were 1943 (World War II) most of the Democrats in the Senate would be indicted for treason. Jane Fonda became one of the most reviled persons in America because of her support for our enemy.
Today, we unbelievably have U.S. senators doing their best to aid our current enemy, Muslim terrorists. Forget that every prominent Democrat now attacking the president for "lying" said exactly the same things about Saddam, and Jay Rockefeller in 2002 called him an "imminent" threat. Rockefeller lied. Clinton lied. Kennedy lied. Kerry lied. Levin lied. But hey, that's OK, they're Democrats, and that's what Democrats do, protected by their lapdogs in the elite media.
Now, they're obsessed with torture. Shouldn't we be able to do to terrorists what the Clinton administration did to Americans, including innocent women and children at Waco? Democratic senators were not outraged at the deaths of approximately 90 people there. I guess ramming tanks into the home of oddball Christians, or murdering Randy Weaver's wife as she stood holding her young child, is fine with them, but they draw the line at harassing terrorists with chained dogs.

There he goes again. Tony is one of the "regulars" who write in to bash anything that is left of Jesse Helms.....
By the way, Clinton is no longer President, and this war is nothing like WWII. It is insulting to compare invading a sovereign nation using cherry picked intelligence with a war that involved a "Real" coalition of world forces united against evil!

Good letter Tony. Well you have heard from the know nothing crowd and I expect that Demon's evii twin James D. " Off his Rocky-fella " will be chiming in soon with the usual moveon.org BS . Thanks for pointing out the unpatriotic conduct of the "white flag " Democrats.

Until the Democrats change the name of their party to the Stepfords, they better question EVERYTHING the Republicans say and do. The Republicans sure did that when Clinton was in office, I imagine you sure didn't have a problem with it then. That is the whole point of having a two party system as well as the freedom of speech. Here is a good one for you that couldn't be said in many countries, our President is a huge dingbat and I am constantly embarrassed by his idiot statements and actions. I also consider myself to be hugely patriotic and by no way guilty of treason. It's this kind of expression that our forefathers wanted and died to let us have. Now why are American's dying in Iraq?????

I do not recall ever visiting the Moveon.org site.
I do routinely surf the BBC and CSMonitor sites and pursue links of interest, including frequently research through wikipedia. I listen to Rush until his half truths choke my radio, and listen to NPR until Danny Sure come on.
I watch the Lehyer News hour fairly faithfully, and am a big fan of Moyers. I also read books.
... a regular guy, but one that does more than spout unthoughtful hate - but perhaps I need to do more of that hate stuff, seems popular among some.

JDR,
You may as well visit the Moveon.org website, as the ones that you mentioned practice the same brand of politics. Every source that you listed is left-wing (Except Rush, of course). And, are you aware that Wikipedia is less than reliable? Have you read how that reference is constructed? The people that maintain that site don't even know who makes contributions to it, so how reliable is the data and how much of it is politically-motivated? Wikipedia is much like the rest of the internet; don't take everything that you see there as the gospel.

Again, it's a matter of the Democrats being too trusting of President Bush's words. WHy would the Democrats, in good faith, have reason to doubt the varacity of our national intelligence agencies? You good patriots would have crucified Democrats for being political heretics by questioning the original intelligence reports. Sadly, we find out that the information that was spoon-fed to us was, in fact, false or gravely overestimated.
Quoting Democrats who trusted the president is a very invalid thing to do. If someone is given false information and they have the utmost trust in the person who delivered the message, and that information is comprised of lies or false pretxts, you must hold the MESSENGER accountable.

When was Tony released?

I'm cool with Wikipedia, these are problems but BECAUSE everyone has opportuity to contribute, that could make it the ultimate democratic document. Unfortunately, very little remains "clean".
I'll grant 90% of Moyer and 75% NPR.
On what basis do you call BBC and CSMonitor "left wing", ditto Leyher/Lehyer? I'm thinking they are a "clean" as one can get. Any other suggestions?

Don't understand why any criticism of Bush or the war brings out a desire to criticize Democrats in general. I even get e-mail telling me all the bad things Roosevelt did. As old as I am, that was before I was born...let it rest folks. Don't kick a dead horse, etc. Let's Move On, not to be confused with moveon.org.
Bush and the Republicans have been in office for 5 years. Please tell me all the good things that they have brought to our country. Please make a list of your own, not one found on a website. I will give you "Interest rates are lower" to start.

Wait, let's see , maybe these astute Democratic Senators were, er, " Brainwashed ". Yeah that's it and a similar excuse did wonders for George Romney's political career. LOL

People of the Land!!! We, regardless of what the White House or Congress do, have to get away from this bi-partisan name calling crap. We, Americans, the U.S.A. people are in a puddle of puppy poop. I don't care what party is in office, we have got to face the issues head on, think for ourselves and see the consequences of what is going on now and the consequences for the future.
I, as a good American, am very nervous about the:
war
national debt
annual deficit
unemployment in the USA
the off shoring of jobs to other countries
the distortion of our unemployment rate
the blurring of the lines between church and
state
the price of fuel and so on and so on etc.
The are issues that affect us all--leave out the name calling, the Republican or Democratic bashing----we are in trouble folks and our children are going to inherit a world that will need all the help it can get (be it: the Intelligent Design, Creationism, Evolution, Higher Power)
Let's get our focus on the right ball.

Nice post joejoe and I agree with all you said except the inclusion of "evolution."
Good advice for all!

Interesting - there's a lesson for me.
JoeJoe summarizes my concerns. The same bgh that enjoys calling me an ass jumps on the JoeJoe bandwagon.

JoeJoe,
You are too stupid to breath without the aid of a machine. Unemployment is at its lowest ever. The economy is humming. Get down to the car wash now. They are hiring. Please do your self a favor and stop embarassing the name of other folks that have the name JoeJoe. Repeating Democratic talking points takes the intelilgence of a Mina bird.

Good list, JoeJoe. I asked for a list of all the good things that have happened since Bush, and no one has answered.
I really try to "listen and learn" from all that is posted and not call names. However, neocon and now marionwormer are making that a tough call. If the best they can do is label and call names, I will just pass over their comments.
Good night to all...Have a safe trip, Dan.

Lets see Carol. Lowered taxes comes to mind, the economy is booming. The stock market closed at just under 11000 today, gdp is up, gas prices are down. Defended America after September 11, 2001. No attacks on US soil since September 11, 2001. Unemployment is down, got a new conservative on the supreme court with another on the way. The housing market is booming. Has most of the Democratic party so divided its comical. They continue to fight Bush and he is not running for re-election.

Ms. Worm:
I confess to having haunted this blog the past couple days much more than normal. I usually spend an hour or two a day reading the e-news and getting perspective from others, including this, my one an only internet vice - right now I can't sleep and my current book, Founding Brothers, is at a slow point.
What I get for the haunt is learning. For example, you make an off the cuff statement about unemployment at it's lowest ever - caught my eye - so I took the time to find out.
Well, sorry, nowhere near. Earlier I discussed how these numbers are skewed by a protracted recession, but you were z'ing by then.
Civilian noninstitutional labor force
1944 - 1.2%
Average of 4.5 in the 50's with a high of 6.8 in 1958 (short lived recession thing)
Average of 4.8 in the 60's with a low of 3.5 in 1969 ('nam thing)
Average of 6.2 in the 70's with a high of 8.5 in 1975 (ouch!)
Average of 7.3 in the 80's with a high of 9.7 in 1982 (way more ouch!)
Average of 5.75 in the 90's with a high of 7.5 in 1992, and a low of 4.2 in 1999 (hmmmm)
and so far this century, an Average of 5.2:
2000 = 4.0
2000 = 4.7
2000 = 5.8
2000 = 6.0
2000 = 5.5
U.S. Department of Labor
So it cost me a half-hour - but now we all know.

Joker:
Tax rates are down - deficit way higher. Lemme borrow more from my credit card and make minimum payments ... what a conservative idea!
Booming economy? GDP? Open to debate.
Housing Market? Def' booming, or past tense boomed.
Gas Prices: under a buck for much of the 90's, a buck fifty-three when george went to DC, up 20 percentish in the past year, including the recent drops. But OK, we'll call it lower.
The Energy Information Administation - your tax dollars at work.
No US soil attacks. Amen - but the game is just starting.

"Why would the Democrats, in good faith, have reason to doubt the varacity of our national intelligence agencies?" The writer speaks of incorrect information etc and wishes to call it lies etc but is it, and does the writer really understand why perhaps that our information could have been less than accurate? Since I watched the decline of our intelligence community perhaps I can shed a bit of light on that question.
Former President Jimmy Carter decided to basically dismantel the intelligence community or at least limit it's role so severely that we lost a lot of what some refer to as people on the ground. Some left the community, some were moved to postions of "unintelligence" ,shuffling papers would be a proper word for that job description.Mr. Carter did not preceive the Soviet Union as being a threat any longer and he thought through his relations with China that they no longer required monitoring. He felt his Camp David accords on the Israel/Palistine situation cancelled the need for intel in that part of the world but then we see that the mistake there lead to his failure in the remainder of the ME. He failed to listen to information that there was a whole new group forming in the ME that would create problems hereto unknown. That was the beginning.
Ronald Reagan attempted to put "Humpty together again" but was fought by the left overs from Jimmy's days who were still in the hallowed halls of congress.It did improve to some extent during this time. Then along came President Bill Clinton, who for some strange reason had the same mind set as Carter in some ways. Actually, if the truth of the story is known it is Hillary that hated the intelligence community and encouraged the President to trim the budget so lean and to further hamstring the intel community that they were sorely limited in their operations. During the 2nd term of President Clinton, especially, the exodous from the intel community was unbelivelable. Oh, figures show that the level was pretty much the same given the new incoming rate of personnel but the trained old timers left in droves, tired of being shackled and hamstrung and constantly discredited or not listened to by the leadership.
It is an unfortunate period of our history and an unfortunate occurance that needed not to happen but it did and we now have seen the results of those years of hamstringing and dismanteling of the intelligence community.
There will be some who will deny this as being factual and some will claim that I am being biased and blaming the democrats but that would be incorrect. The studies are there and there are people around who have first hand knowledge and are not afraid to tell the story as it is. All one has to do is read and ask.
