Bush sets the stage for another campaign
U.S. News & World Report reported last week that Al Gore will probably be the Democrats' nominee for president in the 2008 election.
On TV, Karl Rove set the stage for the "fear 9/11 campaign" this year to begin in order for the newly "re-elected" 2006 Republican House of Representatives majority to get ready to call for a constitutional amendment allowing the imperial king, G.W., a third term to beat Al again.
Recently, the News & Record reported that King George W. has put his strategy in motion: "President Bush (in CBS interview) said that Sen. Clinton, a potential candidate ... is 'formidable.' But he declined to speculate on which Republicans might run for the White House in 2008." Bush continued, "This is an unusual year because this is the first time there hasn't been a kind of natural successor in the party. Two wide-open primaries with no sitting vice president running in either primary, so this is — I can't remember a time when it's been this open."
Perish the thought. Al Gore for president 2008. That would open wide the gate for George W. and satisfy George Will and friends who are still galled over the FDR New Deal.

Out of consideration that only the points of the letter be debated I say why? There comes a time when stupid people with stupid ideas need to be addressed as such.
This letter and the other letter above addressing the President as "King" are sophmoric, moronic, absolute idiot filled tripe.
Liberals, please, if this is the best you have to offer and think of it as being great stuff then you are very, very lost.

Hugh,
I agree. What is there to debate in this letter? It makes no sense whatsoever. It is wilder than even Molly Ivans could conceive (although she would admire it). I would like to see the Las Vegas odds on the 2008 presidential election being a rematch of George W. bush and Al Gore. On the other hand, Las Vegas wouldn't even put a line on that one. It is too farfetched.

Letters today are so far out that to take time to even debate the titles would be a waste.
I will leave it to those who wish to agree with the writers and express more ignorance to do so. I am off to open another can of paint and finish up the guest room. Office is next on the "honey-do" list.

"On the other hand, Las Vegas wouldn't even put a line on that one. It is too farfetched."
Indeed. A Vegas bookie has more smarts than anyone in the democrat party who would waste resources on following the "King George" wants to serve a 3rd term BS.

A third term can be had. The XXII Amendment is quite clear on this. George W. Bush has only been elected to the Presidency once. His first term he was appointed, not elected. And, during his first term, he was not sitting during part of some other President's term of office.

You liberals need to get over this insane hatred for President Bush. Otherwise, you will never win another election as the "undecided's" have taken note of your "loose screws" and unhinged behavior. In the meantime, come up with a platform and learn to debate issues instead of whining about the 2000 election that the DEMS TRIED TO STEAL by only doing recounts in Florida counties with a huge Democratic registration, by counting "dimples" and "chads", and by trying to deny the count of Florida absentee ballots, mostly military, which usually go Republican. Get over it already, you lost in 2000....time to move forward!

( agent 99 voice ) Try considering all of the possibilites before blasting the opinions of those whose ideas are different than your own. This forum is not intended for personal attacks.
If, in your opinion, there is nothing to debate, then please refrain from commenting.

Photo, If you don't like my opinion you're free to comment on it, as you did.
But what I'd like to hear from you is what is your opnion of the other "possibilities" with this writer's letter?
None that I've read have any validity, IMO.

I agree. Commenting on posts like your original one only encourage the original poster's delusionary political philosophy.

Hugh - I'd like to comment on your first post, if you don't mind.
The "sophmoric" author of this letter is an 87 year old man.
The "moronic" author of this letter served his community for over 30 years as a Methodist minister, retired and went on to further serve as a Social Worker, specializing in helping troubled youth in the "Willie M " program. The " idiotic " author of this letter is a Duke graduate.
The spirit and purpose of this editorial forum and blog is to present and discuss ideas, not to personally attack the people who voice them. Your first post clearly violated these boundaries.
Regarding the author's musings over the possibility of President Bush seeking a third term ...
My motto ( post 9/11 ) is 'Never say Never'.... even the most
horrific and far fetched ideas can become reality.

Hugh,
If you have a conscience, you will begin to soften up your tone.
Photo girl,
Unfortunately, there are many just like the one you pointed out, who find the only way to elevate their position is to tear another one down. I can remember a man tearing down another man---one who flew over 135 combat missions in WWII, and was married to the same woman for over 60 years. That man was Newt Gingrinch and the one he villified was George McGovern. The irony is that Gingrinch intentionally avoided military service and divorced his first wife on her deathbed so he could marry the woman he'd been running around with. He became the standard bearer for the conservative revolution.

Photo, the left ought to be ashamed of itself for leading an 87 year old man astray.

At least this letter was not a complete waste of time. We have learned that one can be just as 'sophmoric' and 'mornic' at 87 as they are at 7.
World traveler, where would you be without Newt???

neo, typical liberal tactic to divert attention away from the subject. "How dare you say that, he/she is/was A)an 87 year-old veteran, B)11 year-old kid, C)grieving mother(sheehan), D)a woman and you're a man (abortion arguments), yada, yada, yada.........

Hugh,
When your meal is bad in a restaurant, do you blame the liberals? When anything in your life goes wrong, are you a victim of that great liberal conspiracy?
You really need to get a new "bogeyman" ---heck, even Jesse Helms realized that after the cold war, he had to have a new target, so he went after the "HO-MO-sheck-shuls". Maybe you can lead the fight against those salad tossing Vegans that are be surveilled by the FBI and NSA.
Hugh, you are just a victim!

When someone writes a LTE, they must use their real name. I wonder how brave and vocal some of our bloggers would be if they had to use their real names.
Those who state their religious beliefs so strongly in other blogs and then abuse and judge others need to think about WWJD. They do not entice others to be a Christian.
BTW, what happened to progressivexian? I miss his/her posts.

DD, I never get bad meals in restaurants and things go pretty well in my life.
Won't blame a bit of it on liberalism.
Posted on February 7, 2006 9:52 PM
Carol, there is a reason people don't use their real names. I did once upon a time until I got a phone call at 5:30am one morning from one of those 'compassionate' liberals who didn't like what I had to say about the welfare state. She just wanted to know "what a real hard hearted son-of-a-bitch sounded like at 5:30 in the morning". She lied to me in order to find out if I were the one posting about the welfare system. Pretended to be someone 'working on a story' about the welfare system. When she found out I was indeed the one and same that made the post, it was like Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde. lol lol
I don't use my name in order to avoid phone calls from nutzoid compassionate liberals.

Neo,
Now just imagine one of the Right to Life, fake-fetus-carrying, war-mongering, gun-loving, religious-certainty folks calling you up at home!
A phone prank, or getting a tossed salad thrown at you by a surveilled Vegan would be far better than what the rest of us have to fear!
Just think about it a little.
