Fallen Marine serves God, country, Corps

I wish to extend my condolences to the family of Cpl. Felipe Barbosa. No words can ever adequately compensate for your great loss, but please take comfort in the knowledge that this young man, though gone from this life, will forever live on in your, and our, memory as a hero.

Felipe chose a dangerous mission and carried with him his love of service to God, country and Corps, as well as to his fellow Marines. His spirit is now standing post, in the words of the Marine Corps hymn, guarding the streets of heaven.

It is to this spirit that I say, "Vaya con Dios, mi amigo. Semper Fidelis. Stand your new post until properly relieved."

Bob Wrenn

The writer was a sergeant with the USMC, 1976-1983.

The loss of any soldier's life is tragic event. This one even more so for the known (unknown) reasons.

I have to correct this LTE write though. While the Corps hymn may read that fallen Marines are "guarding the streets of heaven," that is not ncessary. First, God does not need the Marines to guard anything. Second, in eternity, there will be no need for soldiers for "there be war no more."

Shalom

Mr. Wrenn, thank you for submitting this letter. It does not need any revision, no matter how petty the comments.

But thank you, Cpl. Barbosa, most of all, for your sacrifice and for your noble service in defense of this great nation. I extend my gratitude to Cpl. Barbosa, Bob Wrenn, and everyone else who has served in the United States armed forces.

Thomas, I stand by my comments.

If discussion is desired about the right/wrong of US military involvement in areas where the US has NO interest...email me directly (if you have the backbone of your position). I will not deface this letter by doing that here.

As of 10:11 PM on 2/6/2006 I have heard NOTHING from Thomas. I let my words stand on their own merit.

GOD does not need ANYONE to fight for GOD! And the heavenly eternity that I am going to will have no need of "soldiers" standing guard. God will be reigning supremely at that time.

Shalom

Darryl, Read: Revelation 12:7
[ Satan Thrown Out of Heaven ] And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought.....

Hmmm maybe the US Marines are the angels mentioned here. I believe this was the second time that Lucifer(Satan) was thrown out of heaven and the second war that occurs there. Remember the first time Lucifer lead a rebellion because he wished to be equal with God. There was a war then. The account of his fall is recorded in Isa.
