Television programs lack family values
Regarding Ron Smith's letter (Jan. 31), " 'Idol' goes too far," about the foul-mouthed contestant:
Jesus said, "Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depths of the sea" (Matthew 18:6).
So be it for all programs that air under the disguise of a family show, for a true family has no resemblance to what they portray on television.

" for a true family has no resemblance to what they portray on television."
... not even the Brady Bunch, Mrs. Brady?

Until Americans start tuning out of television programs that do not live up to good standards then nothing else will change. If everyone who found these things distasteful tuned out, then advertisers would stop spending and programs would go off the air. Just don't hold your breath. Remember, you are the only one who gets to decide what you watch. It is also your responsibility to evaluate what your children are watching.

And how does the LTE writer know so much about what is shown if she practices what she has published?

Darryl, I have never watched "American Idol" but I have heard, read, seen enough about it to be able to make a judgement that it is not for me. I'm not going to waste my time even watching an hour's worth of it. I don't believe that I have to get down in the mud and wallow with the pigs to see whether or not I get dirty. You do and that's where we part ways.
Also, get rid of the pompous sign-off. It makes me laugh every time I read it.

spooge, give me clarity on this comment, "I don't believe that I have to get down in the mud and wallow with the pigs to see whether or not I get dirty. You do and that's where we part ways." I do not comprehend the accusation being made. Again, give clarity to what is being stated.
Regarding my previous post, I only mean that the LTE writer seems to know enough "wrong" about TV programs to bash them. Yet, the LTE writer comes back and denigrates those who watch them (using Jesus the Christ as support for doing so). How does the LTE writer know so much about the "bad" programs if the LTE writer has not viewed same? And if the LTE writer has viewed same, how can that one berate others who do just as the LTE writer? Does that make my previous posting more clear?
Shalom
