I share the exact same opinion that you have just mentioned. As a muslim living in Greensboro, I am very appreciative of the News and Record's decision not to publish the cartoons. However, at the same time I must take this opportunity to express my complete disgust at some of the reactions that have taken place over the cartoons in other parts of the world.

It is very disheartening to see my fellow muslims unleash their anger by burning flags of other nations and attacking certain buildings and setting them on fire. This is totally unacceptable and actually against the teachings of Islam. I do not in any way condone these actions nor do I find them justified. They are in a word simply despicable.

Let me also take this opportunity to clarify a misunderstanding that has been rapidly spreading around the area concerning a scheduled protest by the muslims in the community. Right off the bat, let me confim to you that this information is completely false! There was never an intention to stage a protest to begin with. There was only a plan to host an open house for people in the community, which by the way is still in the works and is scheduled to take place some time later this month.

In fact, the way the false information emerged in the first place was through a fake letter sent to the media by someone 'claiming' to represent the muslim leaders of the area. When the media contacted the Imam of the Islamic Center of Greensboro to ask when the protest would be, he had absolutely no idea what they were talking about.

Therefore, I hope this posting will clear some current misconceptions that are circulating around the triad and also hope that many of you will be able to attend the open house a few weeks from now.

My wife and I were discussing the new South Dakota abortion law. She doesn't understand how they can come into a home and make decisions for her, I suggested they would say they were really trying to stop a murder. So we have gulfs in America too.

I pointed out the fetus's have no rights as citizens - says so in the Constitution. She said I could not get away with shooting an illegal immigrant, also not a US citizen. I said there're a lot of Minute Men at the border that wish they could - make their life easier, huh?

Part of that discussion touched on discipline of a child - where are the lines between coaxing a child into a time-out, firmly pushing the resistant into the corner chair, sending the child to bed with no dinner, swatting the incorrigible to get his attention, a belt on a bare bottom, a switch behind the barn, and a cigarete burn on the wife - gently though - to imprint the lesson for her too. After all, proper child-rearing is her job.

At some point, the Cops will step in (domestic squabbles- their favorite job I understand) - but hey, they need to understand it's for the stability of the house, to assure there is a Man around the house to assure children are properly raised.

Do you think the Supreme Court will acccept the abortion of the female fetus to assure the first born is a male? It might be cultural, ya know.

MAYBE ... Just maybe we could get the Iraqi constitution re-written to make sure there are no misunderstandings like the gulfs in America's constitution.
