Bickering Congress needs a reality check

The April 9 article, "Partisan bickering slowing Congress," regarding our congressional leaders in Washington was disheartening to say the least. The article stated that Congress has taken roughly 21 out of the last 30 days off.

Meanwhile, according to a recent study by the National Sleep Foundation, the average American works 46 hours a week and gets seven days vacation a year. However, if you let our senators and representatives tell it, they are regular working-class Americans just like the rest of us. They also say that the reason for this much-needed rest is that they can no longer get along. Sounds like children on a playground.

Hopefully, the elections later in the year will remind them of who their employer is.

Excellent! Let's see if we can get them to take 30 of the next 30 days off every month from now on.

The Republican party has proven it cannot govern. It functioned best as a party of back benchers who lob grenades at the Democrats. As to the serious business of the country, the current majority in congress is an embarassment. Incompetence in the White House, and arrogance and corruption in congress, leaving the Supremes to make speeches touting the new regime as if they actually 'RAN' for their seats!

DD, I believe the grenade throwing has come from both sides. Neither side has done anything more than bicker, point fingers and call names. They have failed to consider any means of alternative energy, they have failed to find a solution to the border invasion, they have failed to even come close to finding ways to cut spending, they have failed to do anything except doing nothing.
That is why all those currently sitting must be turned out when re-election time comes around. We can't go another 12 years with a bunch of do-nothings running around ruining this country.
You can choose to do as they are doing and point fingers and call names if you wish but so far that has gotten no one anywhere. It's no longer a political thing, so why not stop all the politicizing of every little thing,it is now a "we the people thing". It's time to put aside the pettiness of party lines and just say NO to the whole dang bunch.

mrp, that is the best post I have seen written in quite a while. And I even 99% agree with it!

Wow, another "cease to amaze me" moment!

Then Darryll perhaps I haven't been just "preaching to the choir" and you have had an "eye opening" experience as well. Let's hope that many more do before the elections this year.

"Eye opening" or not, that is not the point. I just agree with the larger majority of what was said. And trust me, I have not made an "x" beside a name with an "i" beside it in 2 or 3 election cycles. So you see, I have this thing with incumbents, not all mind you, just some. So, I have been doing what some on here keep calling for, however, I have been doing it long before I heard the call here!
