Many legal immigrants spent May 1 on the job

The title "Day Without Immigrants" is largely a gross misnomer. Millions of legal immigrants went to work just as they do every work day, each in their own way contributing to make America a bastion of freedom and a nation of law-abiding citizens.

What actually took place on May 1 was a celebration of criminal activity, supporting "illegal aliens." The key word here is "illegal." These people are not immigrants, rather they are foreign nationals who are squatting where they do not belong.

What we witnessed on May 1 was an open anti-U.S.A. effort by a criminal element present in our cities and towns aided and abetted by misguided supporters. The obvious result is that we now can clearly see that our future does not depend on any group of illegal aliens regardless of their ethnicity.

America's greatness does not hinge on illegal activity rather it hinges on all of her people pulling together for the common good. As a foreign-born legal citizen of this country, I went to work on May 1 to protest this effort to destroy our country. I hope millions of others did so as well.

I know a roofing contractor who was arrogantly told by one of the illegals on his crew (legal and illegal) that all of them were "marching" on Monday. They were in the middle of a job and had just finished tearing all the shingles off of a lady's housee in order to re-roof it. He told them if they didn't show up Monday, they wouldn't have a job on Tuesday. The entire crew showed up for work Tuesday and were told to take their tools and go look for another job. These guys may be hard workers, but their work ethic doesn't impress me. Illegals may think the work won't get done if they don't show up, but they don't seem to realize that they're not going to have work if they don't show up.

People that hire illegal imigrants are worse than the imigrants themselves.
Phillipa, you friend belongs in jail too! Why does he not hire legal workers? Sounds like he has several on his books.

Odd how Cargill and Tyson Foods closed down for the day, wasn't it? They produce most of the country's meat, and huge campaign contributions for the majority of our Congressmen. Did you know they have Help Wanted signs (in Spanish, of course) in Mexico, and provide instructions for border crossing and naturalization? I bet you knew Vincente Fox did this, since it was (over)reported on Fox News, but keep in mind: these people come here for jobs. How do you suppose they know that there are jobs here? How do you suppose they GET jobs here? Maybe our attention should shift beyond the impoverished and exploited recent immigrant to his billionaire EMPLOYER? ?Estan de acuerdo?

Good point, Eric.

I really do have a problem with illegals marching and demanding anything. I know many who are legal immigrants and know of the difficulty they had obtaining citizenship. Those of us who were lucky enough to be born here really do not appreciate our citizenship. While our government is flawed, our way of life is to be envied. Sadly, our good fortune is at the expense of others.
