Senators of a feather?

The April 24 issue of Time magazine identifies Republican Sen. Conrad Burns of Montana as one of the five worst U.S. senators. And the April 24 News & Record reports that Sen. Elizabeth Dole, R- N.C., recently campaigned for Burns, saying to a crowd: "He's doing such a great job."

Reminds me of the old saying, "Birds of a feather flock together."

And who would have the audacity to dispute the April 24 issue of Time magazine?

Besides Dole, Richard Burr hasn't impressed me either. Two RINOs towing the party line instead of having the first interest in representing the state of NC.

Darryl [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

Dole and Burr won: so, "GET OVER IT!"

DemonDeacon [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

To all who think (as I do in this case) that Dole and Burr are as worthless as teats on a man, remember to vote them out when the time comes. They will have huge re-election war chests, and they will villify whomever runs against them. We have to stop "bitching" and start voting them out after they've had their chance. For all those who hate Hillary, just remember that Dole hasn't lived in North Carolina for 50 years! Dole is the worst of the two, because her ties to North Carolina are so slim that she can't even feign interest except at election time. Burr at least answers his mail from constituents! Dole is too busy out campaigning for other candidates and entertaining lobbyists.
One good Burr point: While a congressman, he tried to lift the restrictions on toilet specs. He spoke the truth when he pointed out that the "water saver" models have to be flushed twice, thus using the same amount as the previous models!! Pardon the pun, but that was his high water mark!

DD, I hope that my commet was read with the sarcasm in which it was written!

I just wanted to get a jump on the "regulars" who would state such!

I think your jest was understood Darryl.

Deacon, I'm glad Burr tried to flush out a problem that affects all of us with low flow johns.

At least Dole was born in NC Deacon, Hillary was born in Chicago.

I agree, I have no idea what Dole does for this state. Love them or not, at least one knew what Jesse Helms and John Edwards were up to!!

Speaking of flushing, anyone recall that the johns got flushed during the last election? Everyone has their favorites.

mrproduce [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

Those are two that I agree need to go. I suppose there must be some Democrat representatives in NC but I never hear anything about them except at election time or if Jessee comes to town one might hear from one or two. I believe these also need to go. You see I am an equal opportunity remover and plan on voting against all of them that are standing for election in 06 and in 08. I believe if one were to put the whole bunch in a sack and shake em up and pour em out you couldn't tell one from the other. I agree and disagree with you DD in that all of them are useless as teats but on a boar hog , not on man for man's are of use, or perhaps you are not aware of that. :>)

I am glad that many are waking up and realizing that incumbents who have sat around doing nothing for the last umpteem years need to go. Only one I hate to really see go is Mr. Coble for I feel that he has always been there for the people regardless of party. But then perhaps it is time for him to retire and allow new blood to come into the system. All of course for only two terms max since I am totally commited to term limits. Further more I do not care if they ride on an elephant or a donkey as long as they are there to listen and act upon the request of "we the people".

An earlier comment was that neither senator did anything or has done anything for the state.......really?

Please list one slice of legislation John Edwards sponsored?

Lastly, you dems can't win because you can't afford to tell the general public what you really believe. Instead of finding solutions and introducing legislation that is good government, you find new ways to bash Bush and the whole republican party. Keep on Bashin' because the general public will not vote in whiners. But why am I giving away the game plan here? Forget I said anything.

Darryl [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

The issue is not about John Edwards. That has been beat to death. John Edwards is out of office. The issue is the current two Senators from NC and what they have not/have done for the State.

Since it is verifible that they have done nothing other than host the Texas lame man, it should not even be sought to be defended. The records of Dole & Burr are indefensible. Case closed!

Southern Patriot, I have done a bit of reading and I have yet to see anything that any of the representatives for this state have done for the country or the state with the exception of as I said earlier, Mr. Coble. Burr and Dole seem to be busy running around patting themselves and other do-nothings on the back. They certainly have never answered any of my letters, e-mails or phone calls except with a form letter from Burr. Nada from Dole so she won't get my vote this time around for sure. Those on the other side of the asile, well I haven't read or heard anything from them of a constructive nature since the last election and won't until its time to run again and then they will all be on the trail saying vote for me , I got the experience to get things done. My questions is what have they done lately and the answer is nothing that amounts to a hill of beans.
As another writer pointed out, John Edwards is a dead subject. He is no longer a sitting representative of this state or this country and well, we can see that he nor the others who have run and failed have contributed nothing since thier words of empty, failing promises. And that is exactly why he is a no longer but still a wannabe. Go on back a few post and read my earlier one before you start putting me in the liberal camp. Those who are camped in that camp will certainly tell you that I am not sitting with them at the campfire but am like the lone wolf crying out for a change from all those currently sitting and doing nothing.

Mea Culpa did not mean to paint all a liberal (it is a bad connotation), my point was as was yours in an earlier post, unless you can run a better racehorse, quit complaining about what we have.

As for not doing anything, I like that in Senators and Congress, he less they do the better. Please leave us citizens alone, get out of the way and the let the free markets correct inefficiencies.

Darryl [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

I believe that those who voted in Dole and Burr have set the course for what ALL North Carolinians are having to pay. I hope those who voted for the two do-nothings can walk about with a clear conscience! Nothing that they "promised" has transpired. ALL North Carolinians are the suckers due to a slight majority. What a sad testimony.

To all those whinning about our "do nothing" senators: We would all be better off if every single member of the senate were "do nothing" senators. The best thing that could happen to this country would be for the senate to show up on the first of every month, collect their pay and go back home.

What do you whinners consider a "do something" senator? One who can steal a larger ammount of someone else's money than they can steal from us? This seems to be the liberal benchmark of a good senator - or congressperson.

mrproduce [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

neocon, the do nothings are not exactly do nothings in all ways. They are simply do nothings in accomplishing anything of relevance for the good of this country. The do-nothings do more harm doing nothing than if they really tried to accomplish something of a positive manner for this country. The do nothings can do nothing but sit around pointing fingers and calling names, in actuallity running this country down in the eyes of the rest of the world. Giving aid and comfort to those who would destroy us either through terror or by simple invasion and overwhelming by number. Are you beginning to get the picture neocon?
Send the whole dang bunch home and lets find some folks who will do what they are elected to do. That's my message and if you call it whining, then don't complain about high fuel prices, the boarder invasion or anything else that I have heard you wanking about.

neocon [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

MRP,

One man's whine is aniother man's wine. lol

Wanking??? Nothing is going to change because of this blog, believe me.

neocon [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

BTW, mrp, I haven't complained about high gas prices. And as far as the border goes, the minutemen have done more in 1 yr. than the us govt. has done in history to secure our borders. All the while the senators are sitting on their behind. This is fine by me. Let them sit on their behind at home where they will do the least harm.

Speaking of "senators of a feather", How 'bout that Patrick Kennedy?
