Commission's report fails to incriminate
It should be very clear to all the well-wishers of the Greensboro Truth and "Re-incrimination" Commission that its effort has failed. All that was brought out were the same old, tired, worn, contradictory expressions from the police reports and from the so-called eyewitnesses.
Everyone already knew this. What we did not know was that the commission was so hellbent on digging up new evidence so that it could charge or "re-incriminate" someone. Sort of like the Mississippi trial of recent years.
But you failed, so forget it, bury it, and like Mayor Keith Holliday said, "On this I am looking to bring some closure." Case closed. Put it in the archives and move on.

Last week I was in West Virginia and while I was getting dressed to go to a meeting, The History Channel had a show on the Greensboro Klan/Nazi shootings. It was not a good portrayl of our Gate City. Mayor Melvin (youthful, vibrant) defended the city and the police. But the proof was there---the police knew exactly where the "hot spots" were possible and the parade permit even listed the intersection where both groups met. Folks we did not look good that day, as many within the police force and the city felt the same way a lot of myopic folks who post here feel. The attitude was, Klansmen and Nazi's---who cares! Of course they were not counting on the entire episode being filmed, showing no police along the parade route. The trials were shown as a "cover up" for not protecting the public.
Other than the Fritz Klenner/Suzie Newsome killings, this must be Greensboro's worst day in modern times.
Did anyone else see this expose'?

Everyone else could care less and has moved on with the exception of Ed Cone, the trc, and now the world traveler.

There are some who have vested interests in keeping this alive, neo. I don't think Ed and the World Traveler are among that group.

Al,
Psst.
It might just get buried if folks would stop writing letters to the editor about it.
