An absentee ballot solves voting difficulty
I am a 71-year-old woman who is disabled by multiple sclerosis. But you wouldn't know it just seeing me walk around, sometimes with a cane.
MS has many ways of affecting a person. Among those ways that affect me are hidden disabilities that create all kinds of grief when I try to work computers, electronic machines (such as voting machines), even the thermostat for heat or air in my apartment.
Coupled with the problem I have of standing for long periods of time, I had almost given up on voting.
Imagine my relief when it suddenly dawned on me that I have the option to vote by absentee ballot (paper ballot).
So I'm writing to urge anyone who has a reason to vote this way to do so in the future. All it takes is a phone call to the Board of Elections office to request the ballot. They'll supply the return envelope, and your postage is only 63 cents, a paltry amount to pay to exercise your right as a citizen to vote.

The nerve of this woman! Actually urging people to take the time to fill out an absentee ballot.
What kind of country does she think this is?
A Democratic Republic?
Damned socialist.
Have I made it sufficiently obvious that I just spilled my coffee in my lap?
Fortunately having not bathed in eight months the mold and mildew in my crotch area managed to smother the flames.
Life goes on.

What's really funny is that they've decided that it is a cool idea to cancel school on election day. This results in preschools across the county also cancelling their activities for the day. So, instead of mom dad being able to leisurely go to the polls and cast their vote, they now have to drage along the 3 year-old, 5 year-old, and 8 year-old. Not only is that fun for mom and dad, but to everyone else who is trying to vote.
Oh, but the kids get exposed to the election process and all that. Like they couldn't have a mock vote in school?
I smell conspiracy. They're trying to keep moms from voting (we know they lean republican) while giving the teachers (we know they lean democrat) plenty of time to cast their vote. And we know that it is democrats who decided to close school on election day.
