Don't presume guilt of Wray, Bellamy-Small

Regarding the leaked report on David Wray's possible misconduct while in office at the police department:

I do not have the newspaper copy in front of me. But the expertise level it takes to make a copy of a copy and put it in someone else's in-stack is about fourth grade.

Or did I miss something on the way to my systems analysis degree at Chapel Hill?

We used to say innocent until "proven" guilty, not until "presumed" guilty. In both the cases of Wray and the councilwoman. Or am I missing something here?

I hate official misconduct. And I hate official misconduct looking for official misconduct even worse.

But the worst is when you get official misconduct looking for official misconduct looking for official misconduct.

And that ain't bad syntax, neither.

innocent until proven guilty in a court of law is the exact term.

Innocent until proven guilty in the court of public opinion is a little harder to come by.

I've heard the United States of America is the only country in the world that where one is Innocent until proven Guilty ... the rest of the world operates under Napoleonic Law: Guilty until proven Innocent.

.. anyone know for anyone know for sure?

The premise is it's better for 99 guilty men to go free than for a single innocent to go to jail. Taken literally that premise excludes both women and blacks.

Fan those flames, James.

Good point, 6string.

Sorry, but I think she's guilty as sin. I can see how someone could be framed but she had the opportunity to clear herself with a lie detector test. She didn't take that opportunity and now all evidence points to her. If she wasn't black, she'd be in trouble.

I just love the name of this writer....in fact, it would make a great character name in a spy novel.

ROY A. CRABTREE !!

Has a great ring to it. One of those names you could never make up in a million years. Love it!

It's just a thought, but maybe Dave Wray is just sitting back, waiting and watching for this whole thing to implode ... from Council on down! Even the master, Skippy A, could only shuck n' jive so long before the NC NAACP decided they'd had enough and elected new leadership (We should be so wise) and danged if the state didn't bloody his and Earl's noses for mismanaging the CRM $. Perhaps, had different leadership been in place a few weeks ago, the referendum would have passed. The fact that it failed may (and I'm speculating) be indicative of a Great Awakening from within the voting populus ... Naaahhh. It does suggest that, sooner or later, life will catch up with us ... the good and the bad. The same principle holds true for DB-S, Mitch Johnson or, even, Dave Wray, if the case, indeed, be. I only used DW as an example b/c he has said what he had to say and that's that. He has not flinched at public scorn nor puffed up at public praise. DB-S, it seems, has "bowed up" at any attempt to clear the air about the subject. For someone who continually proclaims innocence, she certainly acts as though she's guilty. After spending $10K+ and holding the citizenry hostage to yet another "ongoing drama", we're no closer to naming the "culprit" than we were when it all started! and, even if a "culprit" were named, what then? In a community where a small group of unscrupulous individuals remain unindicted after enriching themselves at taxpayer (and Michael King's) expense, are we to expect the prosecution of someone who "misplaced" their copy of a report? I think not. Regardless of what is thought or said of the situation, DB-S' fate lies within the hands of her constituents. If they feel she represents them, she'll remain. If not, she's gone. (Right, Skippy?)
