City leaders' behavior ruins police department

Regarding Chief David Wray's resignation and the circus that has been created around some very questionable behavior by our city leaders:

It appears our city officials have decided that questionable behavior by any black person is acceptable. No one can challenge any activities out of fear of being labeled a "racist." The black criminals and black racists are feeding off this like sharks in a frenzy. James Hinson and his supporters are not being judged by the color of their skin. The public is judging them by the content of their character.

The mayor, City Manager Mitchell Johnson and the rest of our city officials who have allowed this cowardly behavior and policy should resign immediately. They no longer have any credibility. They have neutered the police department.

Liberal apologists with their political correctness are destroying every American value. Liberal apologists call political correctness civility. My parents raised me to tell the truth. I am sorry theirs did not.

Greensboro's reputation has been soiled again by incompetence. I do not want to hear, ever again, why people will not get involved in the political process in Greensboro. It is a lost cause.

The resignations should include Diane Bellamy-Small, Mitchell Johnson and Mayor Holiday.

I was basically in agreement with the LTE until paragraph 4. The writer revealed himself to be an absolutist. Yeah right, EVERY American value is being undermined by liberals. He did not elaborate on that because it is an emotional, non-thinking statement. Absolutists on the left and right undermine American values all the time. Moderate logical adults end up having to clean up their messes to protect democracy.

By turning the word liberal into a negative smear, these guys think they make their bigotry look like reasonable discourse. They don't have to say stuff like fag and nigger like they do in private. They wrap it all up in the word liberal to disguise who they really are, weak and stupid white men who are scared of everyone else.

The “Culture War” against American values is in the imagination of men who realize the racist culture that put them on top, regardless of merit, is fading away.

Oh, and I hope there will be an organized boycott of News and Record advertisers. The N&R created this mess and it's reporters have thus far failed to answer Jerry Bledsoe allegations of "sham" journalism.

Darryl [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

Stevie D., you speak my mind!

Anytime there is a "mess," it is the fault of "liberals." Whomever they may be!

Darryl and Stevie D,

I agree. I pretty much agreed with this letter until he started in on the larger theme of all liberals being bad.

He just offended nearly half of the readers when he could have made a good argument and left out the entire paragraph.

hugh,

don't hold your breath for an answer from the N&R. find a copy of "Death By Journalism" by Jerry Bledsoe. inaccurate, biased reportingby a young guy with the paper ruined a career, and actually was the cause of a suicide. but the N&R still hasnot acknowledged wrongdoing. ibelieve the whole david wray situation was caused by lorraine ahearn and her editors wanting to sell papers. truth be damned - if it is incendiary, print it. Death By Journalism is a good way to fill in the gaps between issues of the Rhino Times!

Reformed,
Seems the shoe is on the other foot this time. The Rhino is running Bledsoe's snippets each week, which are nowhere close to the truth. Now Bledsoe is trying to get revenge on the N&R by making it up as he goes....I used to love Bledsoe, but he is grinding his axe way too much on this one. Lost all his credibility. Should go back to writing books about real life criminals.

Seems that DD has put his faith in the bought-and-paid-for RMA report.

nitpicker [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

I have no affiliation with Bledsoe, but it would be nearly impossible for me to imagine either he or the Rhino times printing those articles if there wasn't a lot of truth in them. Otherwise, they would be sued to oblivion.

I haven't even really seen Hinson's supporters coming out and saying that the articles were completely untrue.

Is it all fact? I don't know. But my bet is that a lot of it is.

DemonDeacon [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

Nit,
So you think if it's in print, it has to be true? My, you are one naive fellow. There are 1st amendment attorneys who would jump at the chance to defend ANY print medium for free. Not just mediocre attorneys but GOOD ATTORNEYS.

Carol Dunn [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

Reformed, If you are referring to Jack Perdue's death, it was a heart attack probably caused by the stress of seeing his good name drug through the mud.

nitpicker [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

Wouldn't go as far as saying that if it's print it has to be true, but in this case, I think a lot of it is.

I get what you're saying about attorney's lining up to defend the press, though.

One thing about the articles in the Rhino is that there is a ton of material, details and accounts that have not been really challenged by anyone. Makes one wonder why not.

"L I B E R A L" apologists??????

Whew! This is a stretch. Sounds eerily like one of our regular posters.

Demon,

Since you are so sure that the Bledsoe series is not factual, perhaps, you could tell us where they are in error and how you are so sure? Put up some facts to support your statements, if you can.

Everything Bledsoe writes may not be absolute facts, but then I haven't seen anyone present any evidence to the contrary, nor even be willing to go on the record telling why it isn't true.

As far as the RMA Report, I've read it and my ompresion is that it was a commissioned hatchet job. The final paragraph of the report says it all that it was not an unbiased report.

Oh, really? You know Bledsoe's articles are false? How did you gain that knowledge? No link to support it this time? Revenge on the N&N? Revenge for what? Making it up as he goes? The articles I've read in the Rhino have been well documented.

I've met & spent a number of hours talking with Jerry Bledsoe. He is a fine man, and - in my opinion - a wonderful writer. My judgement might be clouded by knowing that, but, what is yours being clouded by? Given the history of both Jerry and the N&R, I think the benefit of the doubt goes to Bledsoe. Bledsoe doesn't have to "go back" to writing about real-life criminals. He never stopped. The criminals in this story are Hinson, Ahern, and the editors at the N&R.

Oak Ridge,
You still saying "RICHARD PERL" leaked Valerie Plame's covert agent status??? LOL! I had to correct you the other day and then you disappeared.

For the record it was RICHARD ARMITAGE

Careful.... you ask DD for proof, he'll pull up all that proof from the N&R. We ALL know it only prints the truth.

I agree with you though. Someone who says something isn't factual should be able to provide the "facts" with credible documentation. Let's sit back and wait!
