How many N.C. counties have double staffing?

While doing the annual property tax filings, I was reminded that Guilford County taxpayers maintain two separate tax departments, two courthouses, two register of deeds offices and no doubt two of something else.

How many other counties in North Carolina do the same?

SOLUTION:

Sell High Point to Davidson County.

They can then turn their courthouse/tax dept/jail into a museum to honor all those involved in the Bush II administration.

neocon, I think Mr. Franklin's point was that having so much duplication of services in Guilford County is a waste of taxpayers' money. I don't know enough about the issue to know if I agree or disagree with him, but that's what I think he means. I'm a bit surprised that you'd say, "nobody cares."

Beadbaby, I was refering to the world traveler's comment about Bush. Someone could write a lte about ingrown toenails and he would attack Bush.

Ah, I misunderstood. So "nobody cares" was directed at DemonDeacon and not the letter writer, then. I admit, you had me wondering there, since Mr. Franklin alluded to something that a conservative probably would care about.

That said, I don't know if it would be a good idea to consolidate the offices or not. It might save money, but consolidation would also upset the status quo. I remember people used some of the same arguments when consolidating the three school systems we used to have here in Guilford County. Now see how many people are unhappy with one system here, all over the county.

neocon,
Culturally, High Point and Greensboro are polar opposites. High Point's duplication of services is unneeded and unwanted. They need to join up with the "red county" of Davidson and maybe they can self destruct together. I'm an semi serious here, as HP and Davidson County have much more in common than HP & G'boro.

Good points, BB. I remember how much money was going to be saved by merger. Didn't happen...more was spent...surprise, surprise.

DD, you are really upsetting me with your continued hateful comments about High Point and Davidson County. Shape up...you are looking lame.

Since I live in the county, I have access to both Greensboro and High Point. I can say that I usually choose to shop and dine in High Point. I've found friendlier service, better value, less aggressive driving and generally friendlier people there. Just my experience, though.

As far as two separate offices, perhaps it is about convenience or other factors. There is also more than one Wal-Mart in Guilford County.
