County spends too much for illegal immigrants
Count me out. Not one penny of my tax money will be used to fund GTCC scholarships until Guilford County stops subsidizing the lives of illegal immigrants. How much does Guilford County spend annually to support the lives of illegal immigrants?
While the students may be deserving of our assistance, the illegal immigrants are not.

thank you for bringing out into the open a horrible situation, why should we , (who most of us live near poverty) be forced with our tax dollars to support illegal mexicans as they live off of us ? they have about 10 kids per family , if we dont get every 1 one them back to south america quick , then the usa will soon be 95% mexican wetbacks. why not put all of them on freight trains way south of mexico , like argentina ?...just think how long it would take them to walk back to arizona from the farthest point in south america . Maybe we should sterilize every 1 of them before we ship them away on trains , because lots of them will sneak back to the usa at night to get more food stamps, english - spanish interpreters , free housing, plus the mexicans who will work will take jobs from americans who need the work. the majority of mexicans over here have escaped the law in mexico, most of them are criminals , thats why the majority of crime is caused by , mr vasquez or senorita hernandez, or senoir taco bell grande or miguel perez , ect

I'm at a complete loss for words after reading the last post. Oh, and just for the record, perhaps if Americans weren't "above" doing the work most illegals do, then perhaps the jobs they're "stealing" would not be so readily available. But then I imagine someone like yourself wouldn't have time to ponder that fact, given all your "heroic" efforts to "save" the U.S. from the -- according to you -- vast sea of criminals that is Mexico. And one more for the record, Mexico is not the only source of illegal immigrants. They come from all over the world, albeit the majority are from Latin American countries. There is a very large number of illegals from Africa as well, but I shudder to think what venom will spew forth from you regarding THEM. I pity you, you poor pathetic creature.

Sonia Nazario has an interesting perspective:

Starting at 5:45 up to about the 20 minute marks.
She says - Against Resolve and the Desperation of Poverty, Amnesty has not worked and Walls will not work - but there are workable plans.

Amazing lte. How, pray tell, does Evi plan to stop sending her tax dollars to GTCC? Please let me know. I want mine to stop funding the war in Iraq, tax breaks for oil companies, just to name a few. I will gladly send mine to educate anyone who wants an education.
As I read NC22's post I thought it was sarcasm. Was it real? Please tell me it was not.

Last time the earth shifted it left Mexico and most of central America as part of the continent of North America. Be careful in who you think subsidizes who! While I am in full support of documentation and kicking the criminals back, without immigration legal or illegal our country would be in a "South American world of hurt".
Our native Population is not growing fast enough to support the labor needs of our economy. This will only get worse as the baby boomers retire over the next 20 years. When you deduct the stay at home moms, students and lazy from the unemplyment rate of about 4% theres not really that many jobs being stolen by these immigrants.
Yes, we have a problem but most I know are single men not 10 member families. Most also use fake social security cards which in case you don't understand that process means their employer takes taxes out and sends them in for them but they will never get them back out! If the end result is to put them on a boat and send them back buy me a ticket too because the thoughts of every thing in the grocery store going up 100%
of the cost of a house doubling will be out of my budget!

nc22,
You are what is termed a "racist" a "bigot" and more importantly, an ASSH_LE! Your post is dispicable.

Easy DD, while what nc22 posted angered me; nc22 has the right to say what is felt.
Also remember that point in regards to this LTTE. There needs to be found an equitable solution to the issues raised. I wish that I had a better suggestion than what has been presented. I am open to listen to any presented, however, I reserve the right to disagree.

I'm about as liberal as they come, but one issue I don't see eye to eye with my fellow libs is immigration.
I say we as a community or a city enact legislation to curb the flow of Mexico to our backyards. Say for instance, lets fine renters that rent to illegals a thousand dollars per week per illegal. Let's strip businesses of their business licenses if they infact hire illegals.
By the way, I use the term illegal immigrants because "undocumented worker" is stupid talk. Of course they are undocumented, because one can't get documented if one is illegal.
Just thought from an angry liberal tired of seeing our jobs outsourced to India and insourced to illegals.

nc22,
The truth here will get you raked over the coals by those who consider themselves 'citizens of the world'. They have a guilt complex about who built this country and how it was done. They have been crying in their granola for the last 4 decades or so. A good dose of the truth is to them what a wooden stake through the heart is to Dracula. They simply cannot handle it.

neocon,
As usual, you took the bait. nc22 is a mirror image of your underbelly with his/her racist, attitude.
Darryl,
It was all in the presentation. nc22 has little to offer the family of man.

SouthbySouthwest,
While I thought nc22 could have stated his/her position more delicately, I understand some of the underlying anger. Almost all who post here on a regular basis know how I feel about illegal immigration. I see, on a daily basis, how negatively illegal immigration affects all of tax-paying US citizens.
We are being discriminated against by our own government for people who are here illegally. It angers me to see our old and infirmed, our young and sick not qualifying for help from the country they were born in and are citizens of but see undeserving, scamming, schemeing illgals getting what should, by rights, go to our own.
I thought you expressed an equal amount of anger and discriminatory remarks regarding nc22. Your comments were as uncalled for as some of his/her's. Until you know your experiences and knowledge are the same as nc22, how do you know you are justified in calling someone a "poor pathetic creature"?
Also, illegals are not doing the jobs Americans won't do. That is a fallacy the strong hispanic movement wants to keep alive. The truth is Americans will do most of those jobs, they just won't do it for peanuts and no benefits. I would gladly pay twice the price for most things if it meant illegals would be out of a job.
Brian,
I think the illegal immigration issue is not a partisan one. I identify as a liberal and am strongly opposed to supporting illegals in any form or fashion.

I'll say it again: make it easier for otherwise law-abiding, tax-paying people to come legally to the USA or to stay here. If they are convicted of a felony here, deport them!

Yvonne,
We always agree on this issue.
It's nice to see SOME issues that aren't so partisanly divided. It reminds me that we are human before we're ever democrats/republicans.
Once again, for me it's all about who to blame. While I don't hold illegal aliens blameless, I reserve the most blame for our government who refuses to address this issue due to their own greed or desire to find new voters.
If I could make the rules, it would be simple. Anyone seen attempting to cross the border illegally would be shot. Those who are caught already in this country would be identified and deported immediately. Second offense would be punishable by death.
Posted on February 5, 2007 3:10 PM
Oh, one last one. Anyone found to be knowingly employing illegal aliens would also be deported to somewhere in the middle of the ocean.
