Questions linger about first Va. Tech shooting

What was it about that first shooting at Virginia Tech that allowed the campus to remain calm enough for the killer to walk to the post office, mail a package, return to campus two hours later and kill another 30 people?

Was it that the first shooting was presumed to be "domestic," as was originally reported, or that it was violence against a woman? Whatever it was, it was reason enough for university administrators and police to fail to take it seriously.

Ms. Nile, since you seem to know exactly what needed to be done and needs to be done in future episodes such as this, perhaps you should consider a career in college campus security.

Ms. Nile, surely you can't be serious with that statement. If you are, you are a deluded individual. If you feel that administrators and police are so misogynistic to dismiss two murders, you are beyond help. Fail to take two murders seriously??

The News-Record must have had a slow week of letters to let this one get in print.

Julia,
As you can see, these posters know nothing about your qualifications to discuss this issue. At least one of them needs help from your agency, but will probably vent about "liberals" on this blog until he dies. We affectionately refer to him as "The Little Pussy". His world is always "black and white" with no gray matter. He even lacks gray matter where it matters most! :)

World traveler, I'm still interested in hearing what your children and wife (if you truly have a wife, may be a "partner" for all I know) had to say when you suggested they sew the flags of a wuss country to their backpacks while traveling the world in order to fool those ruffians into thinking you were Canadians and would not hesitate to run at the first sign of trouble.

Did they not even question "why"? I'm truly curious. Most people, including children, would at the very least ask this. Did you explain to them truthfully that their father suffered from 'limp wrist syndrome'...or did you pin the blame on someone else...Bush perhaps?

Again, I'm not holding my breath, but as was noted on another thread...we already know the answer to this...

Don't we?

L.C.,

You are right, I know nothing of Ms. Nile's qualifications, but I do know that she suggested that the school administrators and police didn't take the murders of two people seriously because it may have only been violence against a woman. If she really believes that, I have serious reservations about her.

Neocon suggests that you are Demon Deacon reincarnate. Is that true? If so, why change your your handle?

ORR, allow me:

"The Liberal Conservative" is a spin off of JDR's slogan that although he is constantly branded a liberal, he is the only "true conservative" here because he wants to conserve the dino juice, blah, blah, blah...you know the drill.

A month or so ago there was a huge problem with this website and very few could sign on and comment. Some changed their moniker in the lull that followed this problem. The DementedDeacon was one who changes his handle in an attempt to comment. And since he is pretty much not up to the task, mentally, of coming up with anything original... surprise, surprise, he copied JDR's slogan. This is the tale of how the "liberal conservative" came to be.
Pathetic, no?

Oak,
Julia Nile is the Executive Director of Children and Family Services, which serves lots of domestic abuse cases including providing treatment options. Her point is that domestic violence and violence against women are calls that "some" do not take seriously.

Therefore she is being quite sarcastic in her letter. You are definitely NOT the one needing help from Julia's agency, rather the Little Pussy who knows little more than how to spell liberal.

Changed my handle for the same reason a dog can lick his balls--because I can. As to the Little Pussy, he keeps getting weirder and weirder by the day.

Here kitty, kitty, kitty. Oh, there you are. Good Little Pussy.

JackArmstrong [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

You changed your handle for the same reason a dog ... what? Because you CAN? Because YOU can do THAT to a dog caused you to change your handle??

And you say OTHER people are becoming weirder and weirder by the day? Meanwhile you're just behaving quite normally with a dog ... doing ... what?

Uh, do ya have a little vacation time scheduled, THE LIBERAL CONSERVATIVE? Maybe ya need a little break from the "dog eat dog" world, huh? You know, just a few months or so. Whaddya say? Maybe visit a few friends down at Butner ... I hear there's a really nice, uh, "spa" down there. The John Umstead "Spa." Here's the web site:

http://www.dhhs.state.nc.us/mhddsas/Umstead.htm

Check it out, THE LIBERAL CONSERVATIVE. It'll do you a world of good.

Who pissed in your cornflakes?
Your buddy "The Little Pussy" is the one who should be at Butner. Of course, who's to say he hasn't already been there at least once? Yes, the 'Tahoeman' is a fungus among us, spewing his ridiculous rants--both racist and sexist at every point. Who knows, now that YOU were dropped by a focus group driven media, you can spend time with him.

I do miss the gorilla though.

JackArmstrong [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

You DO command a remarkably vulgar turn of phrase, DemonD ... uh, THE LIBERAL CONSERVATIVE. And you've showcased your abilities quite admirably on this thread.

Did ya learn how to do that over at Reynolda Road Tertiary School? They must be SO proud ... and so THANKFUL that you DID change your handle!

THE LIBERAL CONSERVATIVE [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

Jack,
Since you were canned from radio, why don't you just start another right wing insult show, as neocon needs another outlet for his ignorance? I think you'd be perfect for it.
I DO miss that gorilla though.

JackArmstrong [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

Ya know, come to think of it, I probably WOULD be good at that ... provided YOU would call in regularly, THE LIBERAL CON.

My guess is that one would need a steady supply of drooling, insipid and vapid fodder to "cannon" in order to get the ratings. And NO ONE could provide that as well as you do, THE LIBERAL CON ... though there IS a close second who posts on this blog from time to time.

THE LIBERAL CONSERVATIVE [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

Now, Jack. We both know that you and neocon [The Little Pussy] would be able to light up the airwaves with ignorant rants about antique ideas. Let's give it a spin around the block..
neo: "..nothing but a bunch of lazy people sucking off the American teat"

Jack: "Wait a minute neocon, what about your VA benefits and all those counseling sessions paid for by the taxpayers? And, how about that social security...how do you square that?"

neo: "I was in the military and the government owes me! Also, I paid into Social Security...that's not the same as welfare!"

Jack: "But wait a minute 'Meow', you didn't pay in as much as you've already received and just how much does the government owe YOU?"

neo: "You're just one of those panty waisted liberals" 'CLICK' Phone hangs up.

*********
So Jack, as long as the world has nuts like neo, you can have a great right wing talk show!!! You might want to consider bringing the gorilla back with you.
:)

Don't know about anyone else, but I'm kinda glad the world traveler went incognito under the Canadian flag.

Better for the world to think Canadian universities turns out such gems as this than WF, no?

:)

JackArmstrong [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

Off topic here (that means I'm going to post something about a different subject, THE LIBERAL CON ... 'case you are wondering):

I don't know HOW we could have overlooked THIS little gem when compiling the list of crooks a few days ago, THE LIBERAL CON ... and she's well within the "last decade rule" which you concocted when you were having your ox gored:

Meg Scott Phipps, NC Secretary of Agriculture (DEM), daughter of Former Governor Robert Scott (DEM)and granddaughter of Former Governor W. Kerr Scott (DEM) was released from prison today. She was convicted on FIVE FEDERAL charges in 2003 including EXTORTION and MAIL FRAUD.

THE LIBERAL CONSERVATIVE [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

Jack,
You are so right. She is a stain on an otherwise great family legacy. She is a good example of a life ruined because of making bad choices. Due to her actions, she has, and will continue, to suffer the consequences.

Now compare and contrast my response to the "apologists" who support convicted criminals just because they have an "R" by their name. Why, last year, there were people on this blog going on and on about Oliver North like he was some kind of hero---just like Phipps, he broke the law. Just like Phipps, he was convicted of receiving illegal gratuities--"kickbacks". Phipps served time in prison, North is held up as a right wing hero. Neither is worthy of discussion.

JackArmstrong [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

Oliver North?

Whoa! Hang on a minute, THE LIBERAL CON! What happened to YOUR "last decade rule"? I believe it went something like this ... as a matter of fact, it went EXACTLY like this:

"Thank you for ancient history lessons. I have tried, for matters of expediency, to stay within the last DECADE of political scandal."
-- THE LIBERAL CONSERVATIVE April 20, 2007 10:08 PM

http://blog.news-record.com/staff/letters/archives/2007/04/our_skewed_poli.html

What's that? Oh, that rule applies only when it is expedient for YOU, not for others? I see now. Is that how they taught you to spar over at Reynolda Road Tertiary School? "When you're being whipped, make up a new rule, then DROP the rule when it's no longer convenient to use it."

Do you STILL wonder why you make such great cannon fodder, THE LIBERAL CON? If so, find a REAL CONSERVATIVE to 'splain it to ya.

One more thing: I DO love the spin that she ruined her life by "making bad choices." Next time you have a problem with some decision of the President, I'm sure your thrust will be that he "made a bad choice" and you'll just leave it at that.

I am SO tempted to employ your overused acronym regarding laughter ... but I resist.

THE LIBERAL CONSERVATIVE [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

Jack,
What part of "last year" don't you understand? The letter was about North addressing the Boy Scouts here in town last year---not ten years ago. You must be part of that FoxNoise Channel--Fair and Balanced? I think not.

Here it is again if you cannot digest something a few lines above your own post:

"Why, last year, there were people on this blog going on and on about Oliver North like he was some kind of hero---just like Phipps, he broke the law. Just like Phipps, he was convicted of receiving illegal gratuities--"kickbacks".

And your comments about that esteemed center of higher learning known as Wake Forest University--how can you even minimize that institution with your degree from from such a diploma mill as Career Academy School of Broadcasting?

As for your hero, George W. Bush, I will gladly grant that he has been faced with MANY choices, and he has an affinity for making the wrong ones. I would love to see him face the same consequences for his choices that Ms. Phipps has--but he'll probably be the first President to actually pardon himself!

Good try at twisting the truth, Jack. Too bad you were unable to make a mountain out of a molehill this time.

JackArmstrong [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

Just for openers, THE LIBERAL CON, there is NO reference to Col. North's visit last year in your post. You say only that, "Why, last year, there were people on this blog going on and on about Oliver North like he was some kind of hero---just like Phipps, he broke the law."

Did he break the law "last year," THE LIBERAL CON? I don't believe he did. So your reference to his conviction dates back around 20 years. (That's TWO decades, in case you don't have your calculator at hand, THE LIBERAL CON).

As far as Wake Forest University is concerned, I don't minimize it at all. But even the finest schools let some dullards inadvertently slip through, as you have amply shown.

You know, come to think of it, you haven't shown that you attended WFU at all, much less graduated. As I have conjectured before, maybe your connection is simply that of a sports fan or a VERY low level employee. A Demon Deacon "wannabe," so to speak, hmmm?

Sorry, THE LIBERAL CON ... you can't CON your way out of the fact that you have blundered (spectacularly) yet again!

Pitiful.
