Who's next in line?
Apology accepted. I thank the state Legislature for apologizing to me for my ancestors being held in slavery.
My earliest known ancestor was Patrick McAtee. He was brought over from Ireland around 1680 as a slave to an aristocratic family in Maryland. My family has been waiting a long time for this apology. Now, where do I line up for the reparations?

I believe the way that's currently set-up, Mr. McAtee, is that the injured party ... in this case, Patrick McAtee of Maryland ... must apply IN PERSON to the North Carolina Department of Reparations in Raleigh.
He will have to fill out several forms (in triplicate ... no photocopies). A thorough investigation of the validity of his claim will be then be initiated and, upon completion, the evidence will be examined by the incoming Commissar of Reparations, Mike Nifong.
If he finds that EVERY jot and tittle is in compliance (and he's known to be quite a stickler for precise detail), then Patrick (only) can come by his office to pick up the check.
If you have questions ... join the crowd.
