Kernersville residents need their own hospital
Scenario No. 1
You're not feeling well. Perhaps lunch was a bit too greasy and indigestion is starting. You pull up behind a garbage truck stopped for a red light. The pickup driver behind you is distracted for a moment and doesn't see you stopped. Within seconds your car folds like an accordion.
By the time paramedics have you on a stretcher, you are bleeding internally and the indigestion is a heart attack.
Want to wait another 20 minutes to get to a hospital?
Scenario No. 2
Up on the roof you've found the loose shingles that caused a leak during last night's storm. Suddenly little Joey from next door who has climbed your ladder is at your side. "What are you doing up here?" you shout. Joey turns, stumbles, falls from the roof to the cement below. The gash on Joey's head is the least of the paramedics' worries.
Will 20 minutes be too long for Joey to get help?
Scenario No. 3
The new hospital in Kernersville is close enough to help you and Joey!
I am a senior who enjoys good health. Lucky me! However, no age group is secure from sickness, accidents or emergencies. We need a hospital here in Kernersville.

1. this couldnt be the first time you've had indegestion, where is your pepcid ac? or tums or rolaids!? that would've bought you an extra 20 or 30 seconds and maybe you wouldn't have gotten stuck between the two. If you died in 5 minutes or less, the hospital couldn't have helped. if you survive, sue the hell out of the pickup driver.
2. Little Joey's parents were neglegent and social services should be called if the boy survives. maybe its just an oddball thing but it was kind of a given growing up that you don't climb on other peoples roofs.
3. yay! but how close? its great that it can shave minutes off a 20 minute trip, but if its still 10 minutes away... that doesn't help the person who has 7 minutes to live.
I do support kernersville having its own hospital. the unfortunate part is that its a battle between the top hospital companies from winston and greensboro.
On a fun note, greensboro even has a hospital strictly for women! as a man, if i had a heart attack there...I think I'm screwed.

Don't worry, Marilyn! Big Business will come to your rescue, and I'm sure that competition with Winston and Greensboro will drive prices down for everybody!
Just wait- it'll happen soon enough!

Here's a suggestion:
Pick up the phone, call a realtor, and ask for information on existing homes for sale that are near hospitals.
like a Starbucks guy to deliver to my front door but they prefer when I come to THEIR drive-thru.

"Pick up the phone, call a realtor, and ask for information on existing homes for sale that are near hospitals."
You're no fun at all.
Come now, it's common knowledge that hospitals are migratory. All she needs to do is wait for a while, and one will surely amble onto her front lawn and set up shop.
*the sad thing is that i had written out a long, smart-ass post and it was deleted when i tried to re-log in.*
