N.C. A&T audit story overdone by newspaper

Apparently the News & Record is no longer a newspaper for the masses, but instead is focusing all too often on N.C. A&T State University. I have no dog in the fight with N.C. A&T, but it seems there is too much focus on it.

The headline on Thursday, May 24, read "A&T decision 'shameful,' trustee says." Two days later, the headline on Saturday, May 26, added: "A&T audit finds financial abuses."

I am sure there was no overpowering national news that was more important. If you are going to call yourselves a newspaper, then give us more news that qualifies as such on the national level.

Perhaps you should rename the paper The A&T Times.

One of the main reasons I dropped the n-r. Got tired of being blasted with A&T, Skip n Earl, DBS, and a list of other unworthy 'news' stories.

Wayne,

Where were you two years ago when the N&R decided to focus on local news? There was a big debate about that decision then and some of us are still questioning that decision. However, the N&R is basically a hometown paper. I have no stock or ownership so my vote (opinion) counts for naught. Therefore, I have lost no sleep over their decision. I suggest you just accept what they decide to print and move on or quit reading it if it causes you distress. Disclaimer: I am not suggesting you should not speak out, only that you not let their lack of attention to your suggestion cause you disappointment.

neocon,
Why don't you just come out and say that you don't like black people, Latinos, Asians or anyone other than those of European ancestry? Your prejudices are palpable.

Hey liberal canadian do you need to get Swanked again . Why don't you stick to the subject you pathetic little man. By the way how many friends of other races do you have and I'm not talking about ones that you know or work with.
The only reason you go off subject is know your corrupt little buddies over at A&T have been stealing taxpayer dollars. I guess that's why you never comment on the Democrats that have corrupted state and local government for decades in the 'Ole North State. You should change you name to TLH, "Typical Liberal Hypocrite".

I am highly disappointed with lack of progress some of our Greensboro Residents have made. Though not always being proud of some of he headlines, N&R is here to report the local news. I am proud that there is focus on what is going on around A&T. Hearing about money being misshandled is not good and it doesn't make me happy, but it is local news. The only issue I have is the focus on A&T when ever it's aways negative.
I bet anything that there wouldn't be a problem with N&R from "Waynes point of view" if the head lines wrote about sports and/or Duke most of the time.

Too funny how those who cannot even hide their racism, claim others are at fault. Seems the news must now conform to "news they want to hear" rather than news.

It's nice to see that there are still open minded people that are encompassed within Greensboro-Triad area. It's easy to come down on the black school with corruption issues. But God forbid that anything else is said about other schools where corruption that still goes on. Every school has its own issues that they deal with. I personally go to A&T after researching a number of schools, and every school has it own idiosyncrasies. I'm not originally from this area coming in from a larger from the north. This is a local paper right? I must admit stereotypes aren't to far from the truth in the south. Many state funded schools go through periods of corruption. They go through negative periods of reform and they get Better. Now maybe I'm just a typical naive college student but isn't that how it work? They eventually get Better.
