The country was much better off with Clinton

Where were you, Walter Milosky (letter, May 22), during the Clinton administration when our deficit was low or almost naught? When people had jobs, the economy was so much better, gas prices were low and we were not at war over "weapons of mass destruction."

When we were not sending billions and trillions of dollars to Iran and Iraq with people sleeping on the streets a block from the White House.

Where were you, Mr. Milosky? Our national debt has now doubled to at least $10.8 trillion since the Bush days came into play. We are funding foreign countries and wars when our senior citizens here can hardly afford food and medicine.

I'll bet you live in a fine home, have a good job and no worries because Republicans are the rich looking after the rich.

Have you lost a loved one in the war? You must have been asleep like Rip Van Winkle.

Clinton made a moral mistake, but he certainly ran the country well.

The way I read it Clinton wants to give the country to the illegals, Bush wants to give the country to the illegals. Easley gives driving premits to illegals. Sounds like they all suck to me.

There is no doubt we were better off under the Clinton administration. While my personal circumstances have changed little under the Bush administration, my sense of security is gone, my hope for a better future for my grandchildren severely diminished and my longing for some peace of mind has vanished under this administration. I place a high value on security, hope and peace of mind, higher than monetary gains.

I also place a high value on justice and personal rights, which we have seen decline throughout the Bush administration. So, yes, we are worse off now under Bush than we were under Clinton. (I still think he's a dog, just a less harmful one than Bush.)

JFK was the last Democrat with economic sense. Reagan was the last Republican with strategic sense. Clinton and Bush II have both contributed to the current sad state of affairs. We need a third way, someone who does not cross his/her fingers when swearing to defend the Constitution.
Secure the borders, revoke the 16th amendment, and protect the people from threats domestic and foreign. Oh yeah, and enforce the Constitution.
I pray it's not too late.

THE LIBERAL CONSERVATIVE [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

Ellis,
Much of what you said is true, but to couple President William Jefferson Clinton or ANY OTHER former President with the current one, is ASSININE. Cronyism, incompetence, and utter arrogance will forever mark this administration--and heretofore, none can touch it!

Andrew Johnson and Ulysses Grant don't even come close, and they were both corrupt and incompetent. As a student of History, even minoring in History, I take issue with your casual connection between recent Presidents.

This administration has NO PEERS, and that goes back for over the life of the country!

Darryl [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

TLC, thanks for those words! The current administration does not even equate to tht of Millard Fillmore's! That speaks volumes as well.

The country being 'Better Off' doesn't depend upon who is President, it depends on the economy. CLinton, Bush (1&2), Reagan, FOrd etc, they're all just MEN, they have no REAL control over the "better-ness" of the country. We as the US Citizens also have a direct impact on the 'Better-ness" of the country. AS we waste time trying to help a country that only wants to destroy itself, let more and more foreigners into this country, the quality of the "better-ness" goes down more and more.
We need a NEW Revolution and it's calling to all of you; do you hear it?

Long live the UISA!

clonejediluuke,

I beg to differ with you. Whomever is sitting in the WH, the one making the laws, the one in control of the economy, does indeed make a difference. Yes, they are just men (so far) but their position gives them power. It is much like the difference between being the CEO of a company and being an hourly employee of that company.

Reading this blog and hearing people offer opinions on illegals in your daily life should clue you in to the fact politicians are the ones with power. And most of the time they do not listen to what the masses want. Remember when over 500,000 people went to Washington to protest attacking Iraq? Bush made it clear it did not matter what the American people wanted. He was going to do what he want to do because we didn't have sense enough to make an informed decision.

But you are right about one thing; the only way the people can regain control of our own lives and rights is to revolt. Waiting two-four or eight years to get rid of incompetents is a sorry way to handle things.

Clicked on post before I finished my thought. Politicians should be like any other person hired, ie they should have a probationary period. If their performance is not satisfactory within six months or so, fire them and hire someone more qualified. Had we had that option, Burr and Doyle (along with many more) would have been out of congress by now.

Yvonne, at least we can agree change is very strongly needed in this country. We as the US citizens DO have the power who we put in the Big House, and honestly, NONE of the idiots running for president, claiming "they can do a better job" are even remotely qualified. The sad part is, no matter WHO gets elected, it'll be the average US Citizen who gets shafted.
Now, off to polish my white plastoid kevlar composit armour, an imperial soldier must look his best at all times.

Long live the United Imperial State of America!
