No funds to fight gangs, but plenty for a median

None of it makes sense to me.

I have just watched the evening news give a report of more gang violence in our city, and earlier last week there was a report that, while we need more law enforcement to cope with the gang situation in our city, funding is not available.

At the same time, I see the city spending millions of dollars building a median on West Friendly Avenue that we don't need.

Now, really, what would be the best way to spend our tax dollars? Seems to me it's not rocket science to figure this one out. Surely, we could prioritize better than this.

But at least the gangs will have a lovely new street to ride on when they come marching up Friendly Avenue.

Here we go, again......politicians, even low level city council types have to maintain power! If you insulate your brain with hiding from the problem and its facts, HEY, NO PROBLEM! "What miscreant gangs? All I see is an ugly road". "If I don't see it, I don't fix it!" (The politican's motto)
The city council is hoping as these little children grow up, they will then mature and become responsible adults. Nice thought, and if along the way these little children leave a few dead little children and other dead people as well. Anyway, we will have to just get a grip and deal with it. As long as these elected public decision makers don't have any of their children involved in the roles as victims. The Dog's outa here.

The letter writer has illustrated the very reason why the state should be abolished. You can't solve the problems you want to be solved because the state claims the sole privilege of solving those problems (and protects their claim with an enormous arsenal of weaponry) and takes your money from you under the pretense of solving those problems but then refuses to do so and does something absolutely useless or for the benefit of a select few, usually themselves and/or those who keep them in power.

Hey A-C I may not agree with everything you stand for, BUT..I can feel where you are coming from. And,whether I agree with you or not, I'll defend your right to speech. The Dog's outa here, again.
