The case against Vick looks like it will hold up

I see where the NAACP has called for restraint in judging Michael Vick. I suggest we show the same restraint in judging Vick that the Rev. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson exhibited to the young men in Durham accused, tried and convicted by them and the media without a shred of evidence.

I might add, unlike the case with Vick, there never was any evidence of guilt. As a matter of fact, the evidence gathered proved their innocence. In Vick's case, 66 fighting dogs at his house would make one think he might just have known something about it, wouldn't you think?

It would be beter if some poor little black girl claimed the dogs were there raping her during a party and this would explain everything then Vic is free and clear . . .

Vick still is entitled to a trial, but it is well-known by people in the Tidewater area that he has been involved in this criminal enterprise for years. As a matter of fact, it is well-known that the entire family has been involved in thug activity for many years. People in Atlanta also are aware of many issues with Vick.

You will note that the feds have taken several years to assemble their evidence before going with it. Short of an O.J. jury, Vick is going down for hard time. The NFL and the Falcons will not ride to his rescue. His NFL and Falcon career are over. .

The stench of the Mike Nifong fiasco is getting pretty putrid!

The longer that "dead horse" is beaten, the longer and stronger the stench will linger.

It is time to move on and let it die the death it deserves!

Oak,

I think that even before this latest thing, the Falcons were heavily considering sending Vick packing. They should have thought a little harder, I guess, and gone ahead and done it.

This is not an issue I feel strongly about. I don't really care whether or not Vick spends hard time in jail.

However, if I was a member of the NAACP, I'd question how running to every famous black person's defense (regardless of how questionable their activities are) is really helping advance the cause of colored people. I mean, it isn't like Michael Vick cannot afford a lawyer.

Actually Darryl, we need to never forget it. Next time some so called DA starts talking like Mike did...we need to remember what Mike did...and not allow it to happen again!

This case of Michael Vick as serious as it is and as horrible as it is will be settled by lawyer. And, each one slobbers to win, win and then win.
Certainly a person that can murder in the most horrible ways that Vick did to those puppies has got a some social issues and problems. While making millions with pro-football, and hundreds of thousands moe....anyone that can do that to any living thing is nothing but a low-life thug!
Here's some information to consider about these animal cruelty cases. Most of the infamous mass killers, child abusers and like trash, started off torturing and murdering animals, mostly other people's loving pets. Jeffery Dahmer, Ted Bundy and the list could go on.
Yesterday, a local news article told about a young mother in Rockingham County with 2 small children watched her next door neighbor feed ground beef mixed with rat poison pellets to her little sheltie collie. The slim ball was arrested and released on a $2,000.00 bond. The puppy was taken to the vet and after being treated for the poison, should be alright. Thank the Lord that he was actually spotted doing this. His name is MICHAEL KEITH VERNON of 291 Dovefield Drive Summerfield. What's his next step? Sexually abusing a child and then murder? He is the father of 2 young children. Is he now abusing them, sexually or with brutality? His neighbors claim he's a nice guy? So was Ted Bundy. There is a stinking cruel problem in that community...is there an answer? Or, just another raped, dead child in its future? Dad gum, I'm emotional about this! I can see the problem! It's a repeat of a too common problem in this nation. And, after each discovery, we all stand around saying, "damn, what can we do about it?" Just another rant from the Dog! The Dog's outa here!

Crime Dog,

I'd rather hear the whole story before passing judgement on Mr. Vernon.

My neighbor bought a rottweiler and often let's it loose around my 3 year-old. Neither the police or animal control would do anything.

In cases like that, I can see why someone would be pushed to do what Mr. Vernon did.

Don't think that is the case here. However, I still believe in innocent until proven guilty. I think there was only ONE witness to this crime. For all we know, the person who 'saw' this incident is also the person who did it.

You're right, Nitpicker Mr. Vernon will get his day in court. I did not reveal this is in the first post. The mother of those 2 children is my daughter. The children are my grand daughters. The puppy is a 2 year old small Sheltie Collie that I raised for 7 or 8 months as a small puppy. This puppy has more love in its heart right now than Mr. Vernon will ever have. And, Mr. Vernon was witnessed with actual eyes watching as he coaxed the puppy to the fence and handed him the groung beef rolled like a meatball with the rat poison (blue) pellets in it. My daughter and her boyfriend went out there within a minute or so. Mr. Vernon was running away. They retrieved the rest of the meat and the poison pellets from the ground. They then took lovable little Sampson to the Vet. They treated the puppy for the poisoning and identified the poison. Sampson is a loving very friendly pet to my grand children. The children 7 and 4 are completely traumatized by this act. I may be totally off base, but somehow Mr. Vernon has a problem a lot deeper than whether he wants a little puppy to die! But, then what do I know? I'm just an old burned out cop. The Dog's outa here, once more.
