Latham Park project won't prevent flooding
A letter in this column on Sept. 1 expressed thanks to the engineers and contractor performing the project in Latham Park (all those big pipes and, yes, the blasting).
Unfortunately, the writer and many others are under the impression that the project will address flooding of the area. It will not; its sole function is to address the frequent overflow of sanitary sewage which usually coincides with heavy rainfall.
In-depth studies of the hydraulics of North Buffalo Creek in the area show nothing can significantly reduce flood levels in the area.

True, but floods without tampons, toilet paper and turds floating around are more tolerable.

Wow. If I wrote that letter as water resources director, I'd be looking for another job.

Geologically speaking....when one sees "flat" ground around a river or stream...well it's flat for a reason! Engineers have tried for centuries to tame floods and "mother nature"....and time and time again they have been proven wrong!
Thank you to the Engineers for fixing the sewage issues! No one likes "floaters"!

Oh, to wax sentimental about the flowing of terds and tampons in the area bordering Irving Park...Guess those "conservatives" believe in government involvement when it comes to keeping sewerage out of their neighborhood!
Go down there after a hard rain and it's STILL better than the BEST day of Alberto Gonzales' father!

OK, nitpicker, I'll bite. Exactly why should I be looking for another job? I can think of some but none show up in that letter.

Allan,
Ignore that fellow. He just loves to see and hear himself rattle. An inch deep and a mile wide---sharp as a bowling ball, if you get my drift!
Great clarification on sewer improvements, though. Thanks!
