Leaders at all levels seek power ahead of justice

On Sept. 17, the Constitution turned 220 years old. Two days later, the U.S. Senate killed it. And North Carolina's Elizabeth Dole and Richard Burr helped. The Senate voted against restoring habeas corpus, which had been effectively neutered by last year's Military Commissions Act. That it was even considered for annulment will prove to be one of the more contemptible sins of George W. Bush. That our own representatives refused to reaffirm habeas corpus, after they had sworn an oath to uphold the Constitution, is treason.

I live in Rockingham County. For months I've watched elected officials in my own backyard trample on the Constitution: from a school board member suing citizens for practicing the right to petition, to a city council banning new churches.

From the top down, we are being destroyed by those lusting for power rather than desiring justice. We don't need these kinds of "leaders" anymore. We require honest citizens, not partisans or parasites.

Are there people to be found who still believe in the Constitution that our forefathers worked, fought and even died to establish? If there are, they should step forward and take the lead.

You say you want a revolution
Well you know
We all want to change the world
You tell me that it's evolution
Well you know
We all want to change the world
But when you talk about destruction
Don't you know you can count me out
Don't you know it's gonna be alright
Alright Alright

You say you got a real solution
Well you know
We'd all love to see the plan
You ask me for a contribution
Well you know
We're doing what we can
But when you want money for people with minds that hate
All I can tell you is brother you have to wait
Don't you know it's gonna be alright
Alright Alright

You say you'll change the constitution
Well you know
We all want to change your head
You tell me it's the institution
Well you know
You better free your mind instead
But if you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao
You ain't going to make it with anyone anyhow
Don't you know know it's gonna be alright
Alright Alright

... actually I do support most of your stuff, C-K.

James D, I'll never forget the very first time that I heard that song. It was when Nike used it in that TV commercial about 20 years ago.

Again and again, I have spoken and written about the very nature of politicians. The typical garden variety politicians that promise the world everything to achieve their position of political power. Then do nothing more for their constituents than give more sniveling lip service while they pursue their selfish, self-centered, ego achievements.
Want to look at the true political picture in America? How about the current Presidential race going on right now. Every candidate is pretty much promising the same thing for the voters. These are the ideas that we voters want. And, the main issues that the president wannabes pursue? Millions and millions of dollars! And, the news media makes heros out of the biggest fund achievers in this race. What's the price of one person's ego along with the cronie tag alongs to sleep in the White House for 4 years? How can these mega-egos raise all these millions of bucks, while so many hard working, patriotic flag waving "salt of the earth" Americans can't raise a enough dollars to pay for food, medicine or mortgages? Somehow, I see something really wrong with this picture? And, now I also realize that I'm starting to rant. So, the Dog's outa here.

C-K

The first time I heard it was about 10:00 on Christmas Morning, 1968. To their credit, for that one day at least, my parents never complained about it being too loud.

Crime Dog,

One such current example here in Greensboro is running for City Council.

His name is:

ZACK MATHENEY

He has received almost ALL of his money from developers who are rewarding him for his votes on the Zoning Commission.
If you want to stop any more of these "career politicians" then mobilize to defeat this clown. I would urge those who don't know him, to delve a little deeper.

Word to the wise:

If you want to make a difference, then

DO NOT VOTE FOR

ZACK MATHENEY !!!

This lte headline reads,

"Leaders at all levels seek power ahead of justice"

So for anyone in district 3 who wants to stay ahead of the curve,

**************D O*** N O T*************************

***************VOTE FOR**************************

********Z A C K M A T H E N E Y***************

Berkley Blanks or Cyndy Hayworth are good alternatives, but a vote for Matheney is a vote for an egotistical young man who craves power.
