Life's chain eventually comes 'round to you

Sept. 15 was Clean Up the Beach Day. Ocean Conservancy shows pictures of what was found dead on the sand: a seal wrapped in the nets of careless fishermen; a bird, its stomach filled with people garbage, including a cigarette lighter and bottle caps.

Oh, I can hear it now: "A seal, a bird? So what? Who cares?"

Wilderness Society pictures wolves being shot from airplanes, hard to miss from that vantage point.

"Wolves? So what? Who cares?"

A polar bear with the glacier melting out from underneath it in the warming Arctic.

"Polar bears? So what, who cares?"

Your daughter's puppy run over by a truck.

"My daughter? Her puppy? So ... who?"

Your neighbor's son murdered by a gang knifing.

"My neighbor ... his son?"

We're all in a line from seal to son, all related, all connected. One life built on all those that came before.

So what? Here's what: It's time to start caring. Now. Before it's too late, before we're all gone.

We need a Clean Up Your Heart Day. Soon.

It's that type thinking that keeps the dialogue about abortion from EVER getting started. The idea by religious idealogues that abortion is such a non chalant decision is laughable.
Their "simple" mindset is appropos for their sheep, but the rest of the world sees it for what it is---judgement by a few on the many. Oh, and for its unintended consequences, here's a recent story:

Gay,
Thanks for another great letter. You are such a shining light among the quagmire of the uninformed.

Well, that pretty much sums up your intellectual capacity there nitwit. Rather than try to digest the thoughtfulness of her letter, you are mad she didn't include your "single issue" in her vast listing of worldly ills.

Maybe it is you, nit, who needs to 'care' about something other than ONE issue. Maybe you could start by living each day as if it were your last---I can assure you, that your myopia would end if that were the case. Just because a person does not believe abortion should be outlawed does not make that person "PRO ABORTION". Just because a person believes women who choose abortion should not be considered criminals does NOT make them PRO ABORTION. But a little sound bite from your pastor or your right to life group makes it easier for the "sheep" to follow them.

Gay,
I meant to end my note, above, to you with "Keep on dancing"!

Thanks to the instigation of Gay Cheney, I have now Cleaned up My Heart. Please join me so that there will be no more dead puppies. There is nothing sadder than a dead puppy, so you'd better do it. Also, besides the lack of dead puppies, we will all be linked in a Great Chain of Feeling, as well as a Linkage of Clean Hearts. It's really a good deal, if you think about it.

nitpicker [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

I don't agree with the assumption that most people say "So What? Who Cares" when they've learned about dead: seals, birds, bears, puppies, neighbor's kids, etc. I think a little bit more of humanity than that.

However, thanks for exemplifying the clean heart and caring for us in each one of your posts, TLC. Keep up the good work.

Has it really been 30 days already?

"Clean Up Your Heart Day?" Sounds like symbolism over substance to me. Go ahead, schedule it for mid-December. Turnout would be great -- both people who showed up would be very committed to cleaning up their hearts! LOL!!!

Nit,
You continue to prove your own ignorance the more you post. You totally missed the point of Cheney's letter due to your narrow interpretation.
Guess the guy who threw his entire MacDonald's bag out his window on Cone Blvd didn't have the attitude "Who cares". Guess all those cigarette butts at the corner street gutter on New Garden got there because people were saying "I care".
As Bill Engvall said, "You just can't fix stupid".

Get with the program Nit, a dead bird with a bottle cap in it's gut is equal to a unborn baby being sucked out of the womb into a trash bag. What could you possibly be thinking?

I've noticed you (aka Nitwit) have become the latest Demon Deacon punching bag, I guess he's expanding his horizons beyond me and Neocon. Beware of the wrath of the bloviating Demon Deacon, it's quite entertaining personally. Just watch the response and you will see.

Yeah Nic, it's been 30 days. Anyone who compares a dead bird to a gang killing (all related, all connected) and offers the solution of "clean up your heart day", well......you fill in the blank.

One good thing about this letter and I highly commend Gay....she didn't blame Bush for the daughter's puppy that got mowed down by a truck. Kudos Gay.

On my way home tonight, I saw a dead squirrel somebody had run over, so obviously some of you goofs aren't getting with the program.

I've noticed that too.

But to be fair, neocon was missing yesterday so somebody had to be at the end of a personal attack or insult. It was just a matter of who.

Nit, you have a problem when THE LIBERAL CANADIAN agrees with you and says things like "good point" to you. At any rate, I'm here now and he can start nipping at my heels again. :]

Has anyone noticed the decline of typing in caps by the Canuk?
:]...again
