Protesters defend six who assaulted one

Several years ago, six white men beat up one black man, Rodney King, and a nation of black protesters rushed to the support of the one.

Several months ago, six black men beat up one white man, whose name nobody knows, and a nation of black protesters have rushed to the support of the six.

How much more of a double standard can you get?

Done some black face make-up, ADAM .. join the dark side to take advantage of the double standards the report back. OK? Thanks.

BTW -- who planted that idea in your pretty head .. sounds very Rushy to me (certainly his style of hate-raise).

Not typical of you to make baseless assertions without facts and not answer the question JDR. You're starting to sound like Demon Deacon, i.e. Rush this Hannity that. I think Mr. Wilson posed a good question worthy of debate.

From what I understand these kids were charged with attempted murder as adults, which I agree is too severe. I also understand the charges have been reduced. That still doesn't seem to satisfy the Reverends (I use the term lightly) Jackson & Sharpton.

It sets a bad example to defend criminals.

You'd think the race pimps would have learned something from the Duke Lacrosse team case but alas they simply move on to the next mistake.

Dan [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

Before anyone jumps on my case about this statement, I will clarify. Of course lawyers defend criminals all the time. What I mean is for the Revs. Jackson & Sharpton and their ilk to defend criminals.

I still wonder at the validity of this whole situation.

It seems that because local people mishandled something, the whole world now knows of tiny Jena, Louisiana, USA.

It sounds like the GC School Board did a "body snatching" of the Jena School Board and thereby "making a mountain out of a mole hill!"

To quote one of the blogs people and Bill Engvall; "You can't fix stupid!"

Dan,
Did you read about the events surrounding the "TREE" incident in Jena?

If racism is to be eradicated, then why don't you encourage your bretheren to be more "open minded"???

Bill O'Reilly--Just found out that black people eat in restaurants and don't yell "motherf__ker" at each other.

The TOP FOUR GOP Presidential candidates ignored the debate at an historically African American college! The ones who were there voiced their shame, but it will do little until the GOP gets serious about African Americans. Of course President Bush says the final nominee should run on the GOP record of acheivement which he added was "good".

Well, throw up! Maybe he and his mom thought the Houston Astrodome was "working out for them" but the rest of the country did not. Katrina proved beyond a shadow of a doubt how the GOP views people of color. Last week's debate at Morgan State was just insult to injury.

So to you Dan, get off your "it's no big deal" soapbox and try for once to put yourself in a black person's shoes.

James,
Thanks for your post, and 'preach on'!

True, Dan. But I have noticed certain sayings have a way of catching on and defining an issue - regardless of the validity of the original argument ... and it seems the catch-phrases spread like wild fire. Here's an example:

Does Al Gore fly in jets and live in a big house - all "counter" to his position on global warming? Yep.
Does that make him a hypocrite? Yep.
Does that make the issue less valid? No.
Do you really think the recognition of hypocrisy occurred both globally and spontaneously? No.
Do you think the constant repeating is a co-coincidence? No.
Does this constant braying distract from a valid issue? Yep.

Here's another:

Hilary made noise and was laughed off the stage about the "right wing conspiracy" that sunk her 1990's health care reform. Turns out it really was a powerful conservative molder - Kristol Jr. (the same brilliant guy that helped send us into Iraq) - who put the squeeze on the political lackeys in congress - "this Clinton plan might actually be a good thing, but if we sign off on it, even with republican input, it'll be a credit for the Dem's and that's bad for our goal to rule the USA". That's a paraphrase but that's what he said. Look it up and don't gimme no crap about baseless assertions. I digress.

Does that make the issue less valid? No.
Was the squeeze created spontaneously? No
Have we heard about Hilary Care until we wanna puke - even though hardly anyone even knows what it was going to be? Yep.
Did the majority of these same political lackeys then sign on to the Med Part "D" plan that is worse than anything Hilary Care could have possibly been? Yep.

I did not claim Rush nor Hannity started the Rodney King / Jena 6 comparisons .. but it would not be unlike them, and lord knows many folks swallow all that Rush and Hannity can dream up - and they make their living dreaming up half-truths.

For Mr. Wilson's sake - and if he did a little digging he'd know .. Justin Barker was 18 white dude beating by six black students. Here he is -make's one proud to see the pious:

Dan,

Your distaste for Rev. Jackson and Rev. Sharpton blinds you from the fact that Rev. Sharpton did speak out against the assault on the young white student in Jena. Do you share your take on race relations with your African American neighbors that you talk ad nauseum about? How liberal of you to have African American neighbors!

nitpicker [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

James,

Is it your point that because somebody looks like a blue-collar redneck, it's okay they were beaten? Not sure what the picture was meant to convey....but that's how it came across.

James D. Rockefeller [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

I was showing the white man whom Mr. Wilson did not know .. the 18 year old in whom one can clearly see honor and a sense of fairness ... an ardent faith in god and a deep need to fulfill religious duties .. one who would never hurt no nigger.

Dan [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

Conundrum, first of all I don't use the term African-American anymore than I call myself an Irish/German American. I'm an American. I went to Tanzania in Aug. and met a white fellow who was born in and grew up in Tanzania. If he decided to move to the US and become a citizen, I guess he would be considered an African-American?

You do have it correct, I have a distaste for Sharpton & Jackson. They are race pimps plain and simple. They make money off of racism and are not considered leaders of the "black community" (whatever that is) by many of the black folks I've asked.

As for my neighbors, I don't see race as an equation. They are regular people just like me and my family. We spend time together, help each other take the kids to school and our kids play together all the time. That's the way it should be.

You lose any credibility in your post with your stupid comment about being "liberal" in having black neighbors. First of all I had no choice to whom bought the house next door to me. Frankly I don't care who lives there as long as they are decent law abiding citizens but I'm glad this family moved there as they have become our friends and have kids around the same age.

Ahhhh, that brings back memories. These are keepers for the archives, thanks Demon Deacon. It's been awhile since I've searched the archives, but had to dig up a few:

The best cure for you, but hell for your children, is for one of them to be gay.

Thanks Yvonne.
I will watch my own words more carefully, as I have entered the gutteral areas heretofore held firmly by the right wing.

Seems that one never came to fruition.

*******************************************

As for O'Reilly, same response from the N-Word LTE:

Demon Deacon: "O'Reilly is amazed that he can sit down in an African American restaurant, and black people are NOT shouting 'motherf__ker' at each other."

You are so passé Demon Deacon. The smear de la semaine is against Rush. The O'Reilly smear is history, last weeks smear. Keep up with the news please.

But if you want to resurrect ancient history, don't leave out the smear by Syracuse professor Boyce Watkins on CNN:

"Juan Williams sitting there, is sort of the 'Happy Negro' agreeing with Bill O'Reilly, doesn't impress me at all. A man cannot walk into your home and congratulate your mother for not being a prostitute and not expect you to be offended."

Oh my God, calling a black person another black person a "happy Negro"?????

Again, thanks for some new material for the archives, the bit about R's hating Mexicans, blacks and gays is PRICELESS. Gee, I wonder if people who are Mexican, black and gay.....but happen to be Republican....do they hate themselves?

Ooops.....PRICELESS

BTW, I'll ask my parents why they pre-loaded me with racism. My mom is from MA and my dad from OH, you know, those states where cross burnings occur daily.

Kinda amazing how one can judge the parents of someone he doesn't even know, but par for the course. Thanks again DD, your intellect shines as usual.
