Watch your language

I started reading the article in the News & Record Nov. 26 about Hannah Montana's show and was met with the taking of God's name in vain by your reporter Margaret Banks. I realize your reporter was reporting, sadly, words she heard by many children, but it is still offensive to many readers.

You do not print gutter language and I feel it is just as offensive to take God's name in vain and very offensive to many of your readers.

I don't remember the article, but the reporter actually wrote "יהוה"? Or was it "YHWH," "YHVH," "JHWH" or "JHVH"? Were little girls yelling any of these? They know how to pronounce any of them?

Weird. How does The Name have anything to do with Hannah Montana's concert? Is the Cyrus family channelling Josephus?

Reminds me of a Leonard Cohen song, and I doubt Cohen and Cyrus share the same conversation too often...

This Hanna Montana concert has resulted in a plethora of whiny complaints from adults. First, ticket scalping, second, serving alcohol at the event, now, blasphemy. I hope the kids had a good time.

Dan, like everything else "for kids" (concerts, little league, etc), the adults manage to ruin most of it.

Don, do you correct every foul-mouth brat you hear in public? Do you correct every foul-mouth parent you hear in public? It's no excuse, but it's the way things have gone in this world. And as it has been said so many, many times...it starts with the parents.

I feel the same irritation to hear people use God's name in vain. Phrases such as Jesus H Christ, Jesus weeping on the cross, Oh my God, GD, and thousand of variations of it are disrespectful.

If you said such things about Allah or Muhammed, you'd be killed in the streets.

I don't believe in that but I do believe it is disrespectful. Personally, I'd rather here damn, sh&t, and f%ck than these.

What really is interesting to me is that it is often people who don't even believe in God or Jesus who seem to call on him the most when they get angry.

Offensive words are only offensive if you allow them to be offensive. The Dog's outa here.

Are dyslexics to be condemmed every time they misread out loud the word Dog?

I'm more offended by your letter than what the reporter said. I don't think God was a censor.

Oh my GOD! This is the 2nd time this week someone has complained about this type of thing. Good LORD!

Listen, maybe you consider that offensive, but I don't. I find people who spit tobacco out their car windows to be offensive, but I just deal with it. It's really not that big a deal. If you let little things like this get to you, you're not going to be happy. Just relax, calm down, and when you hear people use the word Oh my God, or something similar just ignore it. It's really not worth getting upset over.
