Those Hannah fans were way out of control

Beth Johnson and crew finally alerted our state to the worst problem since the discovery of the mobile home. I am, of course, talking about the shameful way people acted at the Hannah Montana concert ("Alcohol sales upset some Hannah fans," (Nov. 27).

People were out in public and actually doing what they wanted, with complete disregard as to how a few of us might feel about it. Adults were drinking beer and even wine! I even saw someone with a hot dog in their hand. This person had no regard as to how my niece felt knowing that they had made a conscious decision to eat meat.

I looked up toward the heavens and asked, "What should I do?” The guy sitting in the seat above me said, "It's a small world, and only getting smaller. Don't try to make everyone's decision for them.”

At least there have been no reports of anyone attempting to light a cigarette in front of the youngsters. The battle is half won.

Good letter David. Thank you for adding some levity to this topic.

Let me preface this by saying I have nothing against drinking. I drink socially and have a glass of wine most nights during or after dinner. That established, I want to give my view of serving alcohol at the coliseum (based on a personal experience).

I recently had top-dollar seats for a concert at the coliseum. I was excited about seeing a great show and hearing great music. Behind me sat about 8 girls who were there to celebrate one of them turning 21. They announced loudly when they arrived that they were there to "get f---ing drunk" (which they did). Since they were sitting side-by-side in the row, they had to lean forward if they wanted to say anything to a friend four seats down. This went on constantly during the show, except when they were going for more beer or go to the bathroom. Their many trips inconvenienced about 5 people sitting on their row who had to move to let them in and out. A lady sitting in front of them asked them several times to please be quiet and they merely ignored her or rudely replied. She went to a staff member who also asked them to please be considerate of those around them. This didn't work either. These 8 girls had a great time, but they ruined the concert for all sitting around them.

Some of us finally moved to cheaper seats that were available just so we could enjoy the remainder of the concert without the yacking, laughter, and drunken behaviour.

They had a right to drink alcohol, but other people had a right to enjoy the show without the loud talking, laughter, and bar room behaviour. Want to get drunk? Go to a bar! I don't have a solution except to have "no drinking" sections for those, like me, who really DO want to enjoy the show.
