Christian offended by Godless government
Memo to all federal employees:
Since the federal government, at the insistence of the ACLU, has decreed that God and His Son, Jesus Christ, are no longer recognized as part of the makeup of this country and its citizens, all employees of this government, and especially the Congress who initially issued the decree, will observe Christmas Day as a normal work day. If anyone has scheduled this day as a day off, you will be penalized one day's pay with no appeal, even though you might profess Christianity as your religious belief and claim that the day is the birthday of Jesus Christ and shall be a day of Christian observance.
Therefore, I want to see all government employees at work on Christmas Day, carrying on business as usual.
Your Employer,
An Irritated Taxpayer and Practicing Christian
As a Christian, I am offended that our government is eliminating all references to God and Jesus Christ everywhere.
Note to non-Christians: Celebrate the holiday your own way, but don't tell Christians how to celebrate the birthday of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Oh contrair, Ms. Living-well .. the conservatives holding all federal power from 2000 until 2006 spent so much that there will soon be LOTS of greenbacks printed .. each one with "In God We Trust" written in fine style.

I've decided to start using the terms "Radical Christian" and "Evangelical Muslim" .. seems birds of a similar feather, arguable not always in the means used to make their point, but certainly in the ferocity of their Damm-Sure-I'm-Right ness.

I wonder if Cecil has taken the time to ponder the history of the United States with regard to its holidays. He might find it of interest to discover that the Federal Government first established Christmas as a holiday in 1870. That's right... for virtually the entire first CENTURY of this nation's existence, Christmas WAS a "normal work day." It took that long for this country to decide that it was necessary to take that day off.
Maybe instead of grousing over little obstacles to world domination for his religion -- such as the Constitution -- he might want to do a little research, be happy that he is allowed to enjoy the holiday in his own way, and be grateful for the freedoms that he has.

1870 .. the year my Great Grand Uncle got his business start!
.. and the year dare-devil, drunkard, and Republican US Grant signed a Federal Holiday for a Christian Holiday. Obviously Grant was a closet Dem' (a point I will not dispute).

But, Eric, how on earth will his kind gain world domination? Imagine practicing something so simple as minding your own business and being thankful. What foolishness!

What a genetic boulliabasse! These right wing Christians are "wacked out" on something!
Lilbean, what the heck have you been smoking?
Last time I looked, our entire government was controlled by white, Christian, mostly male, people! Where have you been living? Turn on the dang TV or Radio and you can find various asundry Christian ministers preaching up a storm! Get in your car and ride around town---how many Christian churches do you see before you finally get to your Atheist Temple or Muslim Mosque?
Try to stay in the real world!

I can't help but wonder that if our country and its citizens are turning away from recognizing Christ as our savior, is it because we "Christians" are failing to exude His message of love, peace and forgiveness?

Cecil,
You have heard it said thall shall not bear false witness. Please note that your opinion is built on fabrications as the federal government has not "decreed that God and His Son, Jesus Christ, are no longer recognized as part of the makeup of this country and its citizens..." nor, as you falsely assert, did Congress issue any such decree.
Repent and I'll reconsider sending you to eternal damnation.
