No one should complain about a gift from a child
I just read the article, "Teachers' pet peeve: Useless gifts."
As an elementary school teacher, I sincerely appreciate any gift a student gives at Christmas.
The best gift I've received was a toy duck. The duck was in poor condition, but the heart and attitude of the student were not.
Teachers who complain that they didn't get something that fits their style should consider the selfless nature of our profession. How unfortunate it is to complain about a gift from a child.

Excellent point, Brian. But I think you could take that one step further...you should not complain about a gift from ANYONE. I see something I think someone would like, or is "cute" and fits the person's personality and on more than one occasion I've heard the mumbles and grumbles about how they don't like it for one reason or another. That's why I no longer bother...and this is just my family!!!
Teachers who complain about gifts from children aren't very good teachers and should not be in the profession, period. If you can't appreciate what those little minds have come up with, you won't know how to help develop them either.
