Airline deserves support

I hope the Triad realizes how fortunate we are to have Skybus.

Recently, I flew to Fort Lauderdale on a magnificent new plane. I did not have to worry about lost luggage as it was a direct flight. Returning home, I left Florida at 5 p.m. and arrived in Greensboro at 7 p.m. (on time).

It was a wonderful experience. Also, the fares are really low.

Let's give Skybus our full support.

I had a group of friends who flew SkyBus from Ft. Lauderdale to Greensboro last week, they had nothing but praise for the airlines.

If you fly somewhere SkyBus goes please try the airline. Ever since AirTran left, the legacy airlines have charged exorbitant prices at GSO. At some points last year Delta wanted $950 for a round trip ticket to Atlanta. The same flight was around $150 out of RDU.

SkyBus is very different, cheap tickets but no frills in return. If you want to check a bag it's $5.00. There is no reservation center, everything is done on line. They fly into smaller less congested airports to keep costs down. The planes are very nice, all new Airbus full sized jets. They do have some problems with late or canceled flights but it seems to be improving.

There are no assigned seats, first come first serve so get there early. One excellent option they have is priority boarding for an extra $10 per flight. It's well worth it as you don't have to wait in the huge line.

We are taking SkyBus to Florida in a few weeks. It cost $425 round trip for four of us including the priority boarding. Last year it was around $800 on US Airways.

The Triad is very fortunate to have this airline. I hope the community will support it.

I, too, love Skybus! Cheaper than driving!
Best part is they board at two locations, meaning quick departures. I absolutely love the Punta Gorda, Florida airport. It is brand new, and is small and clean.
Bought a boat load of $10 tickets to the Northeast for this summer and I cannot wait! Newburgh, New York is close to the Hudson River Valley where there is a plethora of historic sites to visit. Easy access to FDR's Hyde Park Presidential Library as well as Vassar College. On every flight, I have found people who drove from Boone, Raleigh, Roanoke, and Charlotte just for the cheap fares.
Downside: Many passengers are "first time" flyers and can slow things down a bit. but for the fares, I can put up with just about anything!

Demon Deacon, did you have any troubles with delays to Punta Gorda? That's where we are going in a few weeks. My nephew booked the morning flight last week. He drove up from Charlotte only to find it canceled and had to hang around Greensboro all day to get the evening flight. The trip back was uneventful.
