Johnson deserves what he did to David Wray

Having read the articles (Feb. 8 and 9) in regard to City Manager Mitchell Johnson, there should be only one solution. The solution is a relatively simple one and has been used previously: Simply lock City Manager Mitchell Johnson out of his office.

Additionally, the article on Feb. 9 has Robbie Perkins saying of Councilwoman Mary Rakestraw: "She is trying to ‘fire the manager on a trumped-up charge.' "

Ah, sounds familiar. Isn't that the same action that was taken against former police Chief David Wray?

This editorial makes no sense. Will vengence solve anything? Why did David Wray instruct officers to "HIDE" information? That is a question for the courts to decide. Blaming others, in this case the city manager, makes absolutely no sense at all. I heard one man say, "David Wray may not be a racist, but his supporters certainly seem to be".

Wray lied to Johnson about what was going on, justification or not. When he got called out on it he quit. You can't lie to your boss and expect to keep your job, no matter what the circumstances. I highly doubt there were any racist intentions behind the photo book, but Wray handled that and all things Hinson very poorly from a procedural point of view. He tried to push a chancy criminal investigation when he could have disciplined and demoted Hinson all along.

In addition, he alienated the vast majority of street officers and created a chaotic divide among upper level supervisors, across all racial lines. He caused a 'with me or against me' atmosphere which turned yes men against those that stood by their principles. Morale dropped like a rock as he moved to a rotating schedule, with no regard to the upheaval of officers' personal lives due to family and childcare issues. The idea was to put more officers on the street, but the easiest way to accomplish that is to eliminate some of these alphabet soup special units that Wray was so bent on. Put these veteran officers back on patrol where rookies can learn from them while working together with flexibility to react to the call load. Go back to a fixed schedule and simply assign more officers to the 4pm-3am shift when crime is higher. This stuff is not rocket science, but for some reason the simplest solutions are ignored in favor of somebody's pet project or idea.

Racial controversy or police operations, one way or the other the GPD is better off without Wray. Get over it and get used to it.

I love how all the Wray supporters contend that he is such an honest man, but won't answer why he directed officers to "hide" evidence.

Wray supporters seem to be white, male, middle aged or older, believe everything they read in the Rhino Times, and think aliens landed in New Mexico. Maybe they'll move their "Klaverns" to another part of the country now that the city council voted overwhelmingly to keep the city manager.

You're right, I missed the point of your comments...because I didn't read them. All I have managed to do with your nearly unreadable and incoherant rant is lightly scan over it. I think I stopped after seeing something about the Hatfields. It doesn't matter though because I didn't need to read any of your posts. I wrote in response to the initial letter, not to your maniacle blathering. If you want me to read your contributions, make an attempt at using complete statements, paragraphs, and an organized thought.
