Cut programs instead of proposing bonds

The News & Record has done a great job in the past few weeks clearly spelling out the large cost of the proposed bonds to taxpayers.

If the voters of Guilford County are dumb enough to pass themselves a tax increase of this size in these tough economic times, they cannot say they were uninformed.

All of these bonds should be paid for through the Guilford County budget process. If my household costs go up, I make cuts in my budget to afford it. The county should do the same.

We've been told by our resident socialist worker that bonds cost the taxpayers nothing, Jeff. What gives?

neocon,
You are such a lightweight when it comes to heavy issues. This is one where you need to get back to your inherited patch of land, pretend you are the lord of the manor, collect your government check, and leave the heavy lifting to the big boys.
Jeff,
If you could refinance your 30 yr mortgage (assuming you are not a renter) to a lower rate, pay off all your bills and have ample opportunities to reduce the term on your mortgage--would you do it? I'm sure you would! Otherwise you would be brain dead or functionally illiterate.
When localities issue bonds they borrow at rates which are quite cheaper than corporations or you can borrow. Why? Because of mutual reciprocity. Okay, this is so above neo's paygrade, so I'll just stop here---no need to enlighten those who cannot be enlightened. I refuse to fight an unarmed person.

So we'd save more by money "refinancing" than cutting out useless government programs...

Yeah, I can see where the heavy lifting comes in to swallow that line.
This makes sense only to the cheese distributors... and their customers of course.

Hint: Neo, you can always go back to school at night.

I'm tired of you saying that amputees can't fight.
