Kearns devotes 34 years for the county's children

Amen to Doug Clark ("Kearns: soft heart, tough skin," Feb. 27)!

Thirty-four years of public service -- wow!

You can disagree with her methods and oppose her votes, but nobody has more concern, or has worked harder, for our children, their education and their future than Dot Kearns.

Wrong - one name stands out above all - Anita Sharpe.

Anita is a no-nonsense, fiscally responsible board member who has done more for education in this county than anyone.

Dot has managed to do more to destroy education than help. Why do you think High Point has had such an increase in the private school and home school populations?

Angie,
I am a big fan of Anita Sharpe too. She is an integral part of what is right with our schools.
I am trembling just thinking about what district five will give us---they gave us their brightest and their best in Sharpe, but they have a record elsewhere of sending us the bottom of the barrel in elected officials--Gibbs, Yow, Moores, Hinshaw etc. God help us if its a Billy Yow or E.H. Hennis type!

As to Dot, you have assigned all the blame to her and all the great things to Anita. I must correct you in that they both, in their own ways, did some great things. And sometimes those things were done together. The letter writer has put it very succinctly and I totally agree with her. You seem to have one bone of contention, and my bet is that it was the High Point plan. Think a little more outside your area, and you will see just how fortunate we've been to have both Kearns AND Sharpe on the board of education.

TLC, once again you have shown your arrogant attitude. Sure, you don't care about the High Point Plan because it did not affect YOU. Ask those whose children were shuffled all around for no good reason how they feel about it...and you can thank the High Point Board members for pushing it and the others for following...guess it was I'll scratch your back if you will scratch mine or they did not care as long as it left their school district alone.

And I take much offense at your comments about the Southern School District. You are really uninformed and biased.
