A vote for Democrats is a vote for change
This letter is to encourage voters to do the right thing this November. Let me ask you this: Do you want to struggle forever with a bad economy? Do you want to see men and women die in even greater numbers in a senseless, stupid war? Do you want ultraconservatives to decide what you should do with your own body? How about the same old status quo with the housing market, the foreclosures, the unstable environment? Do you want illegal immigrants running over the borders to invade the United States and get better health care than natural-born U.S. citizens?
Do you want constant attention put on the war "effort" while ignoring millions of people here who struggle every day to find decent housing, food and medical care? Do you really want a repeat of the past administration's complete and utter ineffectiveness to solve real Americans' real problems here at home?
Then if you do, go ahead and vote Republican. If you want a new beginning with hope, prosperity, trust and renewed optimism, then vote Democrat. That is your choice.

Nothing will change by voting for Democrats.
Not a damned thing at all.
Nor will things change by voting for Republicans.
What kind of a letter is this anyway? Why did the News & Record editorial board see fit to print it? Is this the best they have to run with?
"If you want a new beginning with hope, prosperity, trust and renewed optimism, then vote Democrat"?!?
What the hell kind of a philosophy is THAT supposed to be?
Sarah, I don't know you. But please, open your eyes to the reality around you. There is NO difference between the Democrats and Republicans. This letter could have been written by a staunch GOP supporter, and it would have said the exact same thing.
We have had sixteen years (some will say even longer) of the worst presidential administrations in American history. Both parties have had more than enough time to demonstrate that they are the more responsible.
Neither one has shown us that it is fit to be trusted with running a country.
And if we don't grow up and take matters into our own hands as the individuals that God and the Founders meant for us to be, then this country is FUBAR and there won't be anything *left* of it to be optimistic or hopeful about at all.

"What kind of a letter is this anyway?"
It appears like a form letter to me.
Notice she mentions ultraconservative. McCain is an ultraconservative? If so, then why do most conservatives not agree with many of his policies?

... why did yousguys nominate him, Dan?

"If you want a new beginning with hope, prosperity, trust and renewed optimism, then vote Democrat."
Governemnt, government, government.
Yeah, that's the ticket to 'hope, prosperity, and optimism', huh Sarah?

A vote for a democrate is a vote for a democrate.
A vote for a republican is a vote for a republican.
Neither one will do much good for the average American citizen.

All I got to say is show me the money! I'll vote democrat and if after 4 years we are not in the wonderful utopia you predict you come back and rewrite your letter to vote republican next time and well keep doing that until we die and we will still have the same problems we have today just in a different form. Look back on history there has been ups and downs since this country was formed and it really doesn't matter who is in office some just got the blame and some the credit.
By the way is this the best we could come up with out of all the people living in this Country?

The letter mentions alot of bad things going on right now:
the Iraq war, the economy, illegal immigration, foreclosures.
I have yet see EITHER party show they are capable of fixing these things.

I always thought the Republicans were for good and the Democrats were for evil. This letter says it's the other way around. I'm so mixed up.
This is one of those mindless letters that should, if the N&R insists on printing them, be reduced to a cipher. I would suggest "D+" for letters like this, "R+" for similarly vacuous letters favoring Republicans. What is lost through the use of such shorthand? Nothing.

"... why did yousguys nominate him, Dan?"
Dan didn't nominate him. He hasn't had a chance to yet.

Good point rahrah, I had nothing in the say so. I still don't have a chance in May, it's already a fait accompli.

If NC had an earlier primary, I think McCain would have had a tough time of it. There were a lot of Huckabee bumper stickers in my neck of the wooods. As it is, "usguys" don't get a choice in the presidential primary.
McCain was nominated by independents and moderates, NOT by conservatives. Conservatives are holding their noses and hoping the next 4 years go by really fast.

rahrah, I agree that the Dem's fight to to the death is the most entertainment I've seen in the political realm in decades. I about died when those 2 appealed to WWE fans! When will we see them driving around a NASCAR track? Maybe they'll even chew some tobacco? Got to identify with us bitter, unedgycated, Bible and gun-totin' freaks, right?

"A vote for Democrats is a vote for change"
Yeah, cause that's about all that you're gonna have left in your pocket after they levy taxes to pay for their 'ideas'.

"Maybe they'll even chew some tobacco?"
Maybe. Hillary's already drinkin beer and takin shots.

They are ALL (BOTH parties) simply politicians who will say what the people want to hear at the time. Don't count on ANY of them to deliver the promises they make now... except raising taxes. They ALL speak empty words that will be promptly forgotten until the next speaking engagement when they are merely regurgitated again and met with cheers of adoration by those who foolishly believe what they hear!
