Barber, Rakestraw, Wade serve sweetened politics
Robert B. Skenes' letter (April 10) suggests that three City Council members are supercalifragilisticexpialidocios! So I speculate that Skenes has been buying spoons filled with "political sugar" continuously sold by Mike Barber, Mary Rakestraw and Trudy Wade.
Is Skenes a chimney sweep with a political sweet tooth? Does anyone know? Does anyone care?

To the "editors" of the N&R: I'm sure the LTE writer believes what he's saying but can there be any doubt the N&R has an agenda-- that agenda being to keep our community divided-- when you willingly print and post to the web letters such as this one?
This letter serves nothing except to stir harsh feelings and lower the level of discourse hosted by the area's biggest local daily. (As if it could get any lower.) No substance whatsoever.
I understand that LTE writers have a right to their own opinions but the N&R doesn't have the right to exploit those opinions simply to keep your paper boat from sinking. Might I remind you of what happens to oppressors who exploit those they serve? Ask the Romans...
You continually make the claim that the N&R serves the community but what you continue to serve is BS at best. (And newspapers wonder why they're awash when their goal is to cater to the lowest common denominator...)
It matters none who the politricksters are and I know the N&R "editors" will stand behind the decision to print this and other LTEs based on some notion that LTEs are all about reader's opinions but if this is the best of the LTEs that come into your offices each week then it would appear your paper boat has already sunk.
A new motto for sinking news boats: Throw the women and children overboard, man the lifeboats!
