Since Democrats took power are we better off?
In November 2006, George Bush was declared a lame-duck president with little or no power.
With that said, I find it interesting that since the Democrats took power of the Congress in January 2007, gas prices have increased more than a dollar a gallon, the housing market collapsed, unemployment is up and the border is still wide-open.
Now there's change you can believe in.

Bush has been in office almost eight years and he still has accomplished nothing positive. Why would you expect Congress to change things in a few months over a year? Change is difficult and time-consuming when one individual or family is involved, much less a whole nation of individuals and families. Give them a little more time before judging them.

"Why would you expect Congress to change things in a few months over a year?"
Because they promised change.
Have hope Mr. Sartwell, they are getting to the bottom of the Roger Clemens steroid use investigation.

Nice try, James, but you are full of baloney. Trying to blame gas prices on Pelosi? Start with deregulation of banks which lead to the Great Real Estate Swindle which led to Devaluation of the Dollar. Add to that some moron's idea to invade Iraq, destabilize the Middle East and send prices rocketing.
Oh, and don't forget its Bush's hand-holding buddy, the King of Saudi Arabia who has encouraged OPEC to strangle the West. I guess he wants some $$ for his support of Bush's war.

Verelse:
Where did I “blame gas prices on Pelosi”?
Knight said “There is NO difference between the Democrats and Republicans”. I agreed, that’s all.
I do not disagree with your analysis, and have in fact have often stated here-in that the National Financialization (making money the new fashion way: by NOT earning it) has led to the successive destruction of the last 3 three world powers Spain, Holland, England), and we seem headed to be the fourth in a row.
Fwiw, that analysis: “National Financialization … has led to the successive destruction of the last 3 three world powers Spain, Holland, England .. “ (paraphrased) comes from "The Way the World Works", by author Jude Wanniski. It was that book that [apparently] lead Reagan in his economic decision making. I do not agree with all of Wanniski’s conclusions – but that one made a lot of sense and … America does seem to be headed to be the fourth in a row. I can only guess Reagan took the stuff he liked and ignored the stuff he didn’t, ‘cause Ronnie was certainly a leading character in the Financialization of America – as you indicated in your post.
