Truth, even in politics, comes out eventually
The April 19 News & Record was truly noteworthy, evidenced by the likes of contributors Cal Thomas, Mona Charen, the Associated Press (Raleigh) and the News & Record editorial, “Vote early only if you’re ready.”
The subject matter really emphasized the importance of using diligence in opting for the current presidential candidates.
I was reminded of a few sage adages in regard to Clinton’s lack of veracity and Obama’s indiscretions: “The truth will out one way or another in spite of all efforts to conceal it.” Few people are smart enough to remember their fallacies — even Hillary. And how about, “The leopard cannot change its spots.” My favorite is, “Politics makes strange bedfellows.”

"Truth, even in politics, comes out eventually" I love this title! Beautiful!
And, the self-serving, selfish, "what's in it for me", politicians must fear this statement! They wii have to keep their personal notes more detailed and the dates correct.
I always heard that a liar must have a great memory! The Dog's outa here.

McCain embraces religious right--which he once called "agents of intolerance".
That's not "strange bedfellows", that's just political pandering, pure and simple.

"Truth, even in politics, comes out eventually"
Not entirely true. There are people who still believe FDR is the savior of the country and the greatest thing since printed money.

Neo .. aside from Social Security which we know you despise .. what else about FDR do you find so offensive?
Thanks

He (FDR) is the architect of the welfare state, which I abhor. To understand what this does to a population, look no further than the hurricane Katrina fiasco. Masses of US citizens so poor and dependant on an inept government (local and otherwise) that they lacked the means to pack up and get out of town for a couple of days.
After FDR, the federal government turned into a massive tax and spend machine that siphoned trillions of dollars out of the pockets of those who earned it and redistributed it to those who earned it by merely voting for the right person. This practice continues today.
Such calamities as the Katrina episode is proof positive of the bankruptcy of leftist economic ideology. While their touchy-feely ideology is based on good intent, the results speaks for themselves...millions enslaved to the federal government via the umbilical cord that delivers just enough drippings to keep them downtrodden and under the heel of the politicians who parade before the cameras and declare that 'more funding' is needed for the welfare state and accuse the very, very few who oppose them of wanting to starve the shillrun to death. Pitiful.
Social 'Security'...the bankrupt tax and skim a good chunk off the top for pet projects program is the crown jewel in the socialists' crown and they hail it as FDR's greatest legacy. But it too, is merely an income redistribution program designed to keep a large portion (a large VOTING portion) of the public dependant on substandard leaders in DC who would not last 6 months in the private sector if they ran a business like they do our government, but keep their jobs in DC due to a compliant education system and press who have convinced a great many people that this is the proper function of government...to care for them.
This is FDR's legacy and this is what I find so offensive about him.
Our inept public education system teaches our youth that he 'ended the great depression' and 'created jobs' with his programs, but many who lived through the depression, tell a different story. My Dad was one. And despite what you may think, he wasn't a rabid Republican. I have a brother who is die hard leftist and firm believer in income redistribution. (He doesn't discuss politics with me, can't take the heat) :]

Save that post Neo, it will be very useful in the near future should McCain or especially Hillary or Obama win the presidency.
It is a very apt description of the income redistribution system that unfortunately is so alive and well today.

"millions enslaved to the federal government via the umbilical cord that delivers just enough drippings to keep them downtrodden and under the heel of the politicians"
Truer words were never written, neocon. The great German philosopher Johann Goethe puts it quiet eloquently:
"No one is more hopelessly enslaved than the person who falsely believes he is free."
Dan, the three remaining candidates for the Presidency is a reflection upon American society as a whole. God help us.

Such ignorance has never reared its head upon these threads heretofore.
Before FDR, there was no middle class. You were either ultra rich or ultra poor. (Forgive Dan for not knowing any of this)
FDR ended the practice of corporations using child labor--yes, small children were running dangerous machines---Danny, your small children would be working in textile mills like they do in undeveloped countries.
He created the Securities and Exchange Commission--Danny, that's referred to as the SEC.
Thanks to Roosevelt, we have the FDIC today---Danny, this means your granny's money in the bank is safe.
Thanks to Roosevelt, Farmers were able to get credit (Farm Credit Act)--Danny, this is where they could buy equipment that now makes us the most productive farming country in the world.
Rather than just hand out a stimulus check, Roosevelt created a "temporary" Public Works project, which built roads, Dams, Sewers etc. Danny when you ride along the Blue Ridge Parkway, you can thank FDR.
Roosevelt began the REA, or the Rural Electrification Administration---Danny, this is so that those folks out in the country could have electricity.
Roosevelt created the Home Owners Loan Association--Danny, this is the reason your grandparents or great grandparents owned their own home. Sorry to burst your bubble about them "pulling themselves up by the bootstraps".
Roosevelt, along with Winston Churchill, fought and won the great World War--Danny, this means he was not like "W" but actually had a plan to end the war. He eventually died before its end, but he also approved the beginning of what became known as the Manhattan Project, which gave us atomic power.
Just a few tidbits for the "reading challenged" who post such bullsh_t, claiming it as fact--yes, talking to you neocon!
Danny, instead of giving neocon "attaboys" you might want to read some history so that you don't APPEAR so ignorant.

LC said "McCain embraces religious right"
Sorry, but I don't feel the love yet.

"Danny, this means your granny's money in the bank is safe."
I sure am glad to know that, especially since my last grandmother died in 1992.
Looks like you got him riled up Neo, attaboy. Go on to LBJ next.

SEC, FDIC, Farm Credit Act, Social 'Security', and the New Deal in general... vs: MILLIONS of people enslaved to the federal government and helpless to the point where they literally lacked the capacity to get out of the way of onrushing danger, even with several days advance warning.
Hmm, I vote for the abolishment of these nanny state programs that people like THE LIBERAL CANADIAN can't seem to survive without, (or think others can't survive without) and instead choose freedom and self - reliance.
Notice that all is offered in defense of FDR is government program after government program and bleating about how terrible things would be without them.
Don't get me started on LBJ...I think of him as FDR on steroids.

Danny,
You always open your mouth and remove all doubt:
"Looks like you got him riled up Neo, attaboy."

I am still laughing at this sentence!
"My Dad was one. And despite what you may think, he wasn't a rabid Republican."
Oh yeah! Right.
Advice to neocon:
Visit Warm Springs, Georgia and ask to meet some of the former polio patients from the 1920's and 1930's. Nah. Just forget about that--the only thing smaller than your brain is your capacity for compassion.

THE LIBERAL CANADIAN, where was your Fuehrer's 'compassion' for these poor sharecroppers (and your favorite group of victims) his TVA act left penniless and starving?:
"The Tennessee Valley Authority -- FDR's government-power-generating monopoly funded by the 98 percent of American taxpayers who didn't live in the Tennessee Valley -- was touted as a bold social experiment. But, among other things, the TVA flooded an estimated 730,000 acres of land behind its dams, and 15,654 people were forced out of their homes. Farm owners received cash settlements for their condemned property. But tenant farmers -- a substantial number of whom were black -- got nothing. After chronicling victims of the TVA "population removal program," historians Michael J. McDonald and John Muldowny reported: "TVA's social experiment was a failure."
FDR's Raw Deal was little more than the 'Communist Manifesto'...still is. The TVA was just one of his socialist boondoggles that is hailed even today as a triumph of government over private enterprise by fevered minded liberals.
So lil miss, chug that government school Kool -Ade and bleat about 'Warm Springs' till your lil heart's content, but FDR done more damage to this country and it's minorities than all the liberal presidents since combined. (exception to LBJ of course...FDR on steroids)
I suggest you look up some of those black sharecroppers who lost EVERYTHING because of a swipe of the pen by your idol, FDR.

BTW, THE LIBERAL CANADIAN, FDR was a friggin' communist...but I suppose that is why just the mention of his name brings liberals to ecstasy.
Posted on April 29, 2008 6:08 PM
neocon, the village idiot, has spoken.
Now you claim FDR is a communist. Are you really that ignorant??
I'll have to pack it in, because I refuse to fight an unarmed man.
Posted on April 29, 2008 10:14 PM
"I refuse to fight an unarmed man"
Yep, there it is. The old 'I have no defense to offer for FDR kicking black (my favorite group of victims) sharecroppers off their land and depriving them of making a living, so I'll tuck tail and run'.
LOL!
Posted on April 30, 2008 6:04 AM
Hey THE LIBERAL CANADIAN, thanks for not leaving a link to a liberal blog before you tucked tail.
LOL
