Bill before Congress would end oil subsidies

Big Daddy Oil said, “It troubles me a lot,” referring to the problems we all face with the price of gas. Eat or drive is the current choice.

This while Exxon made over $2 billion profit so far this year, the largest quarterly profit ever earned by an American corporation. Does that disgust you? It should.

And while it “troubles” Big Daddy, just know that his profit is about equal to that of Exxon, and he won’t do a thing to change it.

While Congress has been trying to deal with the situation, Bush has vetoed everything. But now there’s a bill before Congress to stop government subsidies to big oil and divert the funds to renewable energy sources. Is this intelligent? Is this right? Will this help us? Yes, yes, yes.

Please contact your congressman, Brad Miller (forget Coble and Dole who are Bushies) and ask him to pass this bill, to remember the Earth on which our lives depend, and forget the fortunes of those already over rich.

Gay, if you watch Fox News, you would have saw Peloski standing on the capital steps, waving a bunch of papers hollowering vote democrat in 2006 and I have a common sense plan to lower gas prices. The LIBERAL press that will print letters like this was going wild, Peloski, Peloski, Peloski. They keep the airwaves filled with vote democrat a gas prices will fall. We where overwhelmed with liberal bs, gas prices will fall, Peloski, Peloski, Peloski. Now over 2 years later, with the democrats running the country, gas is about $1.90 higher.
So what to heck happen to Peloski, Peloski, Peloski. Its now Bush fault, why because the liberal press wants it that way. DRILL, DRILL , Drill. Gay, if I was you, I fix the big oil companies, I would not buy their product. That will show the sobs.

Yes, that's the current choice of propaganda used by the liberals...but during the winter months it was "Eat or heat your home" (if you were fortunate enough to have a home under Bush)

When socialized health care is on the table, it's "Eat or go to the Dr."...

Ditto drug 'benefits'... "Eat or buy Grandma's medicine".

How many times in the past have we seen liberal environmentalist wackos espouse $4, $8, even $10 a gallon gas in order to curb America's driving habits and thereby save the planet from our greed and wanton destruction of the mother earth via 'greenhouse gasses'?

Congratulations, pinheads.

"Peloski"....I like it. Fitting.

BTW, we shouldn't have to contact our representatives. The solution to the energy situation was sold as a package deal with the new congress.

In addition to the lower gas prices the queen was to 'provide tax relief for the middle class'. If the democrats "provide tax relief" like they lower gas prices, I'll pass on that.

"Democrats have a commonsense plan to help bring down skyrocketing gas prices by cracking down on price gouging, rolling back the billions of dollars in taxpayer subsidies, tax breaks and royalty relief given to big oil and gas companies, and increasing production of alternative fuels.”

What's wrong with that, Doggie?

"GOP leaders made a stand against a $21.8 billion, 10-year tax package that would have extended incentives for wind and solar energy and reduced some tax breaks for oil companies."

I'd rather see incentives for wind and solar energy development than tax breaks for oil companies.

"The vote stalled a bill that includes tougher fuel and appliance efficiency standards and a requirement for a massive increase in biofuels."

Tougher fuel and appliance efficiency standards seems "iffy" and a massive increase in biofuels is simply a bad idea.

" ... inserting an enormous tax hike .. " .. if 2.18 per year is "an enormous tax hike", what's the 2.7 per year given in the 2005 Energy bill?

GOT IT" 2.18 is "Blue", 2.7 is "Red"!

Actually, I rather see tax breaks for wind and solar energy development than incentives for any company.

" ... tax revenue forgone represents a loss in revenue for Government.

" .. subsidies and sales tax forgone [limit the ability to] reduce the fiscal deficit ...

"... a small deficit means that the Government can reduce its borrowings.

Oh, my. Are we supposed to ignore your apparent lack of education and take you seriously?

I'm not saying I disagree with the bill but how on earth is this going to lower the price of gas?

I imagine it will have the opposite effect.
