Council still disregarding concerns about growth

I watched with dismay as the City Council approved another apartment complex, this one near Horse Pen Creek and Jessup Grove roads. It’s difficult to fault developers and builders for doing what they do: making money buying tracts of land and building houses and apartments. Their presentation was slick, and, of course, shortsightedly minimized the impact on traffic while extolling the supposed benefits of having retail/office space as part of this proposed gated complex.

My disappointment is with the council members who continue to disregard the concerns of property owners. Increased traffic notwithstanding, we are unhappy with unabated construction projects on every available piece of undeveloped property. We must resist this trend, and it is in part the job of the council to balance open spaces with development. My concern when Councilman Zack Matheny was elected was that he was in the pocket of developers, and this is proving correct. Councilwoman Trudy Wade’s suggestion that the most expedient way to get the needed traffic signal at Jessup Grove Road is to approve the project is blatantly irresponsible.

This area of Greensboro is expanding, and that’s inevitable. But another apartment complex? It’s very disappointing.

Wade, who used to be fiercely independent, now finds herself listening to Mad Mary for all her positions.

Matheney IS what you see. He's a lobbyist's (developers here) dream. A man who needs money.

As I have stated here before everyone needs to be aware that this whole project was in a noise cone area and as such has always been low residential for a reason. This project will probably go down as one of the dumbest rezoning cases to come by in a lot of years

Tonight Lawyer Chuck Winfree brought up some great points and one being that in other cases in area the Triad Airport Authority were opposed to certain rezoning case but as you can see the conflict of interest in Zoning Stud Isaacson also being the chairman of the Airport Authority they never objected to this case at all. Wonder Why?

Robbie Perkins abstain also Barber absent but you should add the Paid Off City Council Members from Carroll PAC to the list of Council Members who should have not voted on this case but there is not a shred of ethics on the Greensboro City Council.

Here is the campaign contributions

would like everyone to see just how developers work in Greensboro with the TREBIC CARTEL on your side, this is called Greensboro politics

here is the Roy ” North Carolinians for pay offs to Greensboro CIty Council Members PAC”Carroll recipients in 2007:

I was very interested in watching the zoning board meeting on this case . I can give you a briefing on what I observed. Roy Carroll and his North Carolinians for payoff to Greensboro City Council members Political Action Committee plus having King Trebic Cartel Isaacson as his zoning stud lawyer made for a great night.

It was interesting to see Marty Kotis from Kotis Properties be in opposition to this development. It was amazing to see two major developers on opposites sides. Kotis has properties besides this property to be rezoned and I think his feeling is that if approved he would get the bad end on this rezoning.

John Davenport from the I will approve any traffic issue just pay me the money engineering company . If the Greensboro City Council doesn’t have major issues with the traffic congestion on this stretch of road then anything goes . Just pay John Davenport and he is your yes man on traffic.

Chuck Winfree was a lawyer opposing the development. He brought up some great points but looking at the planning board and how things work . Please explain why you need to show the zoning stud lawyer for the TREBIC CARTEL your cards. The planning board is not needed and i have a feeling there was a few neighbors absent from this meeting so that they can go before the Greensboro City Council not showing their cards at the planning board meeting. Mr Collins chairman of the Planning made a point about some of the people missing from this case who might be opposed to this development.I think they might just wait till the Greensboro City Council meeting

The noise cone from the airport also came up. If you look at the plans Roy ” Mr.North Carolinians for pay offs to Greensboro City Council Members PAC” Carroll has proposed that the residential area which is in the 60 dnl noise cone have supplemental noise and vibration damping construction materials and techniques. To me that is a red flag at the highest level. They were trying to play with some rule about the cone noise and where the residential fit in this noise cone. People need to be aware that once fed ex comes into play there will be planes taking off all night one and maybe two at a time all night long.

If you haven’t been down Horse Pen Creek road lately good luck. If they approve this development and with all the other zoning cases like the ridiculous apartments going up near battleground, I feel sorry for anyone who wants to live in that area of Greensboro. They need to start looking at connector roads not putting all this traffic on horse pen creek road. The city of Greensboro sits back and lets the TREBIC CARTEL build their roads and STOPLIGHTS for them.
