Not very amusing
The hottest new vacation destination: the Green Zone in Baghdad with a Marriott and a Disney Land-like amusement park adjacent and close to the Baghdad Zoo. Only Monty Python and/or the U.S. military and government could come up with such a preposterous vision.
Oh, and not to worry about the billion dollars to bring this vision to life. It will be an entrepreneurial effort. It takes my breath away. The latest twist to George Bush’s war.
We are constructing our own “zone of influence” in Iraq, as if we hadn’t already done that.

How dare they! This is the ultimate insult, right L.B.? Let's vote GWB out of office in November.

Dan,
Since you are such a big cheerleader for Bush's war, why don't you join up and fight for my freedom over there? You know, put your money where your mouth is.
Blackwater will train you, arm you, and give you the necessary equipment. All you have to do is put that armchair patriotism to good use! Then when you claim others have "BDS" or some other nonsense, your words would have some teeth. Maybe you can persuade the Bush twins to at least do some USO work over there...you know, to support Daddy's war.
"Bush Derangement Syndrome" describes those who have witnessed the destruction of our own military at the hands of two chicken hawks and STILL support them.
Dan, you can take your laptop and keep us all informed as to your progress at "fighting them there, so we don't have to fight them here". You'll be given ample opportunity to see parts of the world you've only dreamed of! Forget those cute little flag lapel pins, you can do some heavy lifting for your country!
Yes, Dan! Unlike the GOP apologists, you can actually do something! Oh, and how proud we would all be. No one could ever point a finger at you and call you a coward. No siree! Unlike some, you would actually put your support of the war on the dotted line.
Think about it, Dan. This is your time to put your words into ACTION!
God bless George Bush, and God bless our Dan! Two patriots willing to make the sacrifice.
: )

Dan,
Please offer Oak Ridge Runner the opportunity to put his hummingbird ass up there with his alligator mouth. I'm sure he'd be great comfort walking the beat in Baghdad. And being such a cheerleader for Bush and his war, I just KNOW that ORR would want to do his part....not just wear that lapel pin to show his patriotism. Now we know why he calls himself a 'runner'. He runs from the causes he supports.
Here's your cue to delve into your archives and change the subject into Canadian flags etc. You can't stay on topic, so be sure and change it. : )
LOL!

L.C.,
I am disappointed in you. I took your side on this issue, and you trashed me. How unkind of you.
I'm sure that Mr. Obama will get this matter settled shortly after his inauguration. He can talk nicely to Little Hitler and get him to take all of those Hezbollah Troopers out of Iraq.
P.S. Has Mr. Obama been to that 58th state yet?

Speaking of hummingbird asses:
Ned,
This is a great letter and I share your thoughts. As I contemplate another international trip with my family, I am even more disturbed at our standing in the world. While visiting London and France, we sewed Canadian flag patches to our backpacks---it saved us from the ire of many and we met many new friends through that act. I only wish we did not have to do that again.
Thanks again for your letter.

Nice two post yada, yada, yada, yada, yada, yada rant Demon Deacon, can you make it a triple?
Neo, we're leaving for Canada next Friday, I'm taking orders for flag patches. They are 100% guaranteed to offer safety to all Americans traveling in extremely dangerous countries like France and the UK. How many can I put you down for?

Ya know, somehow the mental image of the oxyMORON wringing his hands and crying huge crocodile tears over "... the destruction of our own military ..." just doesn't ring true.
Does this qualify as hypocritical?

Yeah ... b'lieve so!

I'll pass on the Canadian flag patches.
Brad Paisley says it best:
With all of these men lining up to get neutered
It's hip now to be feminized
I don't highlight my hair
I've still got a pair
Yeah honey, I'm still a guy
Oh my eyebrows ain't plucked
There's a gun in my truck
Oh thank God, I'm still a guy

So Jack, are you willing to sign up with Blackwater? They don't care how old or out of shape you might be....besides, you, Dan and Oak Ridge can show us just how you support the war effort. We already know what a wus neocon is, but you guys can make up for him by signing up and putting your name on the line!
I just love how the "chickenhawks" run for cover when they get called on their false patriotism. If you support the Bush/Cheney foray into Iraq, then here's your opportunity to show your support, in a meaningful way.
What? You mean the 'warriors' who post here are NOT willing to put their own arse on the line, but ARE willing to send others there????
Guess those lapel pins and "Support Our Troops" ribbons are about as deep as it gets.
neocon,
Thanks for doing EXACTLY as I predicted. You are such a creature of habit. Whenever you get called out, you (and most times Dan) will resort to the 'switcheroo' muddying the water with flag patches, etc. Can't take the heat little man?

"Maybe you can persuade the Bush twins to at least do some USO work over there...you know, to support Daddy's war."
Jenna Bush might not support the war. She's not sure if she's voting for John McCain.

I especially like that she said she's sure that everybody's open to learning about the candidates.

"Thanks for doing EXACTLY as I predicted"
TL Canadian, I predicted LAST MONTH what kind of drool you'd dribble out when someone mentioned Iraq.
Furthermore, I predict that the next time someone fails to adhere to the liberal herd mentality and disagree with anything the Deliverer says, they will be branded a 'racist'.
Perhaps if more of the true patriots, you know the ones who really support the troops, joined their komrades in San Fran., we'd see a quick end to this war:

You don't have to join the military or Blackwater to do your part. When asked what sacrifice he's asking of the American people in the war on terror, President Bush said that seeing the carnage on television is ample sacrifice for us to make.
I take my part in that very seriously. I spent the savings from my 2003 tax cut on an HDTV, and whenever I surf through the cable channels, I pause when I see footage from Iraq, and observe very solemnly. Sometimes for up to a minute.
I only hope boosts the morale of our brave troops to know they're not in this struggle alone.
Posted on May 13, 2008 4:17 PM
Kornbluth,
You're right. Bush asked all of us to "go out and buy something" as a sacrifice in the war on terror. Glad you're doing your part.
neo,
You have a lot of class...too bad it's all third.
rahrah,
While the Bush twins "might" squeak out a few more IQ points than him, I'm sure daddy would never let them vote for....for God's sake, a...a...a BLACK MAN for President!
Oh no!
Not that!
Why he's also probably...a...a.....a....a
L-I-B-E-R-A-L!
(or at least that will be the "fit for print" excuse)
Well, there's always Howard Coble's buddy from the Impeachment days....Bob Barr! Yep, the most dangerous place to be during the Republican witch hunt was between Bob Barr and a television camera.
"Deddy" can tell the twins to vote for Bob...yeah, that's the ticket.

Yet again with your typical modus operandi of knowing NOT whereof you speak, oxyMO. I must take umbrage at your insipid sniping.
For YOU to label ANYONE a "chickhawk" is the height of hypocrisy. By your own admission, you flit from your closet and prance about Europe bearing a false flag because you don't want anyone to be mad at you. Good grief!
Ya know, oxyMO, it's dark as pitch down here. Sure wish you'd get here soon. A yellow steak as full-blown as yours would really brighten up the joint.

Larch,
You haven't witnessed courage until you get accosted on the street by THE LIBERAL CANADIAN...check this out:
THE LIBERAL CONSERVATIVE said:
I had a fellow in his late forties tell me how great Bush was for going into Iraq and how we needed to "whoop'em" there etc. After he went on and on, I said, "Why don't YOU go over there?" He stammered and then said he was too old etc. I told him how to get to Blackwater and that they'd give him some basic training, arm him, and give him a humvee and a free ticket! I told him to put his money where he mouth is, or shut up. He walked away muttering, which proves my point about neocon, Dan and others who can't bring themselves to fight, but have no problem with people dying for ...what? What is the excuse du jour?
Why aren't Bush's daughters in the USO, at least?

BTW, I've got some great property with a view of Bogue Sound near Ashville for sale ...
Posted on May 14, 2008 10:11 AM
Jack,
Guess you have an attention deficit problem, so I'll go slow:
1. I never supported the Iraq war.
2. Iraq did not attack us on September 11th.
3. neocon and you seem to be the real armchair warriors, supporting Bush's war. Rather than offer any sort of defense of the indefensible, it is YOU who attacks those who speak up.
So you somehow think "I" am being hypocritical? Why don't YOU sign up?
Hint: Your support ends with the yellow ribbon magnet, and the flag lapel pin.
And while you're emptying your drool bucket, tell me how Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld do NOT fit the definition of "CHICKENHAWK".......try to do so utilizing a cogent thought process. Don't worry, we won't hold our breath!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chickenhawk_(politics)
Yes, old Five Deferment Cheney and George "AWOL" W. Bush are real live chickenhawks. Face the music, Lurch...or at least give us some bogus credentials. Your ignorance of the facts is just as bad as neo's. Did you take young children overseas in the weeks following September 11th?? If not, then maybe you shouldn't be casting stones?? (poor word choice as you obviously have no 'stones')
Here are some links to actual facts. Something you seem to be quite unfamiliar with:
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/05/01/politics/campaign/01CHEN.html?ex=1398830400&en=1c0259e620183dd6&ei=5007&partner=USERLAND

Lets talk about Chicken Dick Cheney and his heroic efforts to support the boys overseas.
Chicken Dick Cheney found out that his first student deferment was so fun that he got a second one, and a third, and a forth.
It was such a joyous time that Cheney racked up two convictions for drunk driving.
Alas, all good things come to an end. Cheney found himself about to be ineligible for anymore student deferments.
Things must have looked bleak to the boozing party animal in those last protected - defered - days.
Then, suddenly, all of Chicken Dick Cheney's prayers were answered. The government had come out with a new paternity deferment for fathers and expecting fathers.
Yep, you guessed it. Cheney put the fat to the fire--the meat in motion-- and shazzam, Cheney quickly found himself eligible for the paternity deferment.
It must have been such sweet irony to him that while so many young men felt they had been screwed into going to Viet Nam, Dick Cheney had gotten screwed to stay out. And now you are jumping up and down calling other folks "chicken". Lurch, you need to look in the mirror.

No, oxyMO, I didn't take "young children" (nice redundancy, there, by the way) overseas in the weeks following September 11th. What of it? You want a medal or ribbon or something?
But if I HAD done so, I would have most likely worn no flag on my clothing at all ... simply because I don't customarily do so. But I sure as hell wouldn't have tried to cower behind some other nation's flag!
Teaching children is best done by example. The lesson YOU taught by the example YOU set for your charges is, "Cowardice Trumps Courage in Times of Turmoil." Nice job ... I know they're proud.
You're the one who wanted to talk about "chickenhawks." I guess it takes one to know one. But to hell with all the Cheney/Bush baloney you're spewing. Who cares? Your attack was on people who post here. People whose credentials are completely unknown to you. People who may well have given substantially to protect your freedom to be the jackass that you are. If you want to post all your heroic deeds, by all means do so. But so far, all you've bragged about is your devious cowardice. And I'll just take your word for that.
Yes, I do look in the mirror every morning. And no, I don't ALWAYS like what I see.
But I need not see you at all to know that I'd be looking at a pusillanimous, simpering, whiny elf. And I sure as hell wouldn't like seeing that. SHAZAM!
(Note: the word contains only one Z. If you're going to try tossing out words and concepts about which you ill-educated, at least try to spell them correctly).

With the timidity of one who fears being civilized in a cavern full of savages...I have a few questions.
Why did we go to war in the first place?
Is this the same reason we're there now?
How has it made us safer?
