I assume you mean the freedom of religion. But this doesn't have anything to do with the 1st freedom. The ruling does not force ANY church or religious organization to physically do the marriage or other such ceremonies.

I do believe that it should though. Churchs and religious organizations don't have to pay taxes b/c they ostensibly are there to perform actions for the public good, which include performing marriage ceremonies. If they do not perform actions for a large percentage of the population they should get rid of the tax-free business, or make them do it anyways.

This is false and you know it. Most AIDS cases worldwide are in poor families that cannot afford birth control, mostly in Africa. Why? Bush and you fundies won't even tell them what condoms and AIDs is, nonetheless how to get/pay for them.

Although I oppose his point of view, In fairness to neocon, when he said, "a disease that could be eradicated in one generation without any research or money," I'm pretty sure he was not suggesting eradication of gay people or anything. I took his comment to mean that HIV could be wiped out in one generation if people just quit engaging in risky sexual behavior (all sex outside the bonds of marriage). Technically, that's actually true--although it's unrealistic to think that it could or would ever happen.

There will always be people who oppose gay marriage for religious reasons, and I respect their beliefs. But allowing gay marriage does not affect these folks AT ALL! Its about equality...thats all folks. If your faith doesn't believe in same sex couples, fine. Don't accept it in your church--but don't force your beliefs on me!

Since the government has sanctioned marriage with tax benefits and other rights, its only fair that gay folks get this equal right. Lets face it- gay people aren't asking for anything special, just equality!

With the divorce rate among heterosexual married couples at about 50% or better, isn't it rather apparent that straight couples don't have it nailed down when it comes to making marriage work? So, who are heterosexual couples to prevent homosexuals or lesbians from getting married? My marriage is not threatened by the union of two lesbians or two homosexual men.

Mr. Page's point is that those who don't see the issue the same way he does should spend their money in ways other than in an attempt to overturn a State Supreme Court decision; in this case, by "fighting poverty and homelessness" instead. In my opinion, that is very typical of the "progressives" (a misnomer if there ever was one!) - telling others how to best spend their money.

Bob and Dale are friends of mine and they are fine people, citizens and veterans who served their country. They have two wonderful boys and they are both present in their children's lives.
