Hagan backs a policy of surrender in Iraq
Kay “Surrender, Cut and Run” Hagan is running a very interesting race for the U.S. Senate. She appears to be taking her marching orders from those West Coast socialist defeatists, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, the News & Record news staff, and her most prominent backer, Rosemary Roberts.
I notice that analysis pieces about Hagan appear as lead stories in your newspaper, and mentions of Elizabeth Dole are often buried or nonexistent.
Hagan, after a speech in Thomasville honoring service people who have given their lives for this country, dishonored our fighting people in Iraq by saying in a TV interview they have accomplished nothing. Of course, she is an expert, learning all she knows by reading socialist, defeatist commentaries. She should run well on a ticket with that master of appeasement, Barack Hussein Obama.
I really am not a Dole supporter, but Hagan is such a fake. Why could the Democrats not do better?

"Why could the Democrats not do better?"
The pickin's were slim. If I'm remembering the primary ballot, there were two other candidates, Jim Neal and somebody else. While Jim Neal would have been interesting, as, from what I know, the first openly gay candidate running for Senate, among other things, I felt like Hagan had more political experience (as Neal had none), had lived in North Carolina recently (as Neal had just recently returned from a 25 year absence), and, well, she gave a better speech than Neal when I heard them both speak. And by better, I mean a speech with more substance.
As for Dole, maybe the N&R wants to cover North Carolina politicians instead of the one who only shows up in her precinct to vote for herself and never spends the night.
But anyway, your letter seems less about Hagan and more about the war and calling various people socialists.....

..."but Hagan is such a fake."
Fakery is in vogue nowadays, Jack. Never underestimate it's power.
Key words to be on the lookout for: "Hope" and "Change"...(especially "change we can believe in")

I would like for the letter writer to tell me what had been accomplished in Iraq. I do not think this comment is disrespectful to the soldiers. They are just doing what they are told.
I plan to vote for Hagan. As has been said, she is a NC resident...full time. She has political experience and is more qualified than Dole.
To call Hagan a fake is really funny. So, even though he is not a Dole supporter he will vote for her....guess it is because he thinks she will "keep him safe", nothing fake about her.

maybe Dole is absent in the N & R because she doesn't do anything except be a rubber stamp vote for the white house.
Neo, to call hope and change as "fakery" really shows how pitiful you are. what would you like to see as a dream for the future, doom and gloom???

I fail to see how Hagan is a fake. Jack disagrees with Hagan politically and is upset with her. So his opinion makes her a fake? Yea, now I see. Makes sense to me. NOT!

Mr. Stratas is very generous with the blood of those brave US soldiers who have died in Iraq. I guess that 4,000 plus dead soliders isn't suffiicient for him.

"I plan to vote for Hagan."
Any more bombshells you want to drop, there?
Honestly, when was the last time you voted republican on a state or national level?
Hagan is a loser. Dole is a loser. I'll abstain.

I always voted for Howard Coble, before Iraq, and I plan to vote for Pat McCrory for Governor. When was the last you voted for a Democrat.
Please explain why you think Hagan is a "loser"...I know why I think Dole is one. Also, are you going to abstain in the Presidential election?

Oh, great...
Another erudite contribution to the conversation! Let's count the number of times Hagan is accused of being a socialist. Of course, such labels need no basis in fact; it's sufficient to fling the label and hope it sticks.
I wonder how long we'll have to listen to conservatives bemoan the undue influence of "westcoast socialists" and the so-called Hollywood liberal elites without their acknowledgment of such notable Hollywood types as Ronald Reagan, Charlton Heston, and west coasters like John McCain?

Sorry, Carol. I got you confused with another person who posts here.
I actually will probably abstain in the presidential election.
I would have voted for John McCain without reservation years ago. After he jumped on the Bush wagon a few years ago, I lost a lot of respect for the man.
The last time I voted for a democrat was Erskine Bowles running against Liddy Dole. I voted for him again against Burr.
I also voted for John Kerry.
I did vote for Bush the first time around because I just did not like Gore and thought the country was ready to move past the Clinton/Gore era. I voted for Perot when Bush senior ran for the second time. Funny thing is that I also voted for Bush senior the first time he ran. I thought Dukakis was a flake.
On second thought, maybe I should vote for Hagan. I'm pretty good at supporting losers.
I probably will also vote for McCrory. He wasn't my favorite candidate in the primaries but I think NC government needs a shake-up after 8 years of do-nothing Mike Easley.

The writer has the Republican talking points down pat. Does the N&R get paid by the word to publish tripe disseminated by the parties themselves?
Also, the writer clearly supports other people and other people's kids fighting in Iraq. Like 99% of Republican politicians, I bet none of the writer's children are of military age or are serving. The writer talks a good game from the safety of his home.
As it stands now, I am not voting for McBush or any other Republican in the upcoming election with the possible exception of McCrory. I have voted Republican too often and the nation is paying the price for my mistakes.
