Scouts displayed flags incorrectly in parade

Having two sons involved in Cub and Boy Scouts (past and currently), I was somewhat surprised to see the parade photo on B-1 (May 18).

For the Scout leaders of Troop 214, and all other Scout leaders as well, please visit www.ushistory.org/betsy/flagetiq.html and learn the correct flag etiquette. The pertinent passage reads as follows: “... The flag, when carried in a procession with another flag, or flags, should be either on the marching right; that is, the flag’s own right, or, if there is a line of other flags, in front of the center of that line.”

But items Nos. 4 and 11 on this site also apply.

Please do better in future parades and functions.

Nice cloth worship protocol reminder for those readers fixated on that kinda stuff. Now, off to Gitmo with those declasse proles who would mortify the official fabric of the federation! "Nationalism is the measles of mankind"~Einstein

"An improper display of an American flag is just a breach of flag etiquette," says Mike Buss, who oversees flag education at the American Legion's national headquarters in Indianapolis. "Most times people don't realize these rules exist, but when they do, they go out and fix the problem."

Even the most ardent of flag experts, like Mr. Buss, say it is good just to see Americans showing their pride.

What does he think when he sees a flag being displayed improperly? "I drive by it and say, 'Hey, there's another patriotic American.' "

'Nuff said!
