U.S. needs to be a moral leader against torture
Last week, the world, except us, commemorated the World Day against Torture. On the same day, we held congressional hearings on what constituted torture and debated to what degree punishing physically and mentally another human was allowed legally!
Yet our local news paid no attention in editorial positions. Not print, not radio, not television. The public was mostly silent. The “family virtues” crowd was not heard from.
The two principal proponents of torture have no record of service in the armed forces. These same defenders of inhumane treatment (as long as it does not damage an organ!) are the proponents of protecting national values!
There were no sermons about inhumane treatment of fellow humans.
There was no outrage that, in the 21st century, we have allowed our country to be less than the best.
No member of Congress elected from North Carolina protested the outrage.
There is no outrage that we have allowed bad leadership to suggest the destruction of interrogators’ notes before court cases.
There is no outrage that our standing as the leader in advocating and protecting human rights is tarnished and suspect.
Where is the outrage?

"Where is the outrage?"
Apparently, it's nowhere.

We've heard over and over again that John McCain was tortured by the North Vietnamese.
According to the White House torture:
"must be equivalent in intensity to the pain accompanying serious physical injury, such as organ failure, impairment of bodily function, or even death."
so apparently McCain was treated humanely during his captivity according to George Bush's new speak.
When I was young I could tell the bad guys in the movies because they spoke with a thick German accent and they tortured their victims to get information out of them to protect their Fatherland.
When I was a little older the bad guys spoke with a Russian accent and they tortured their victims to get information out of them to protect their motherland.
I'm wondering in the future if I'll see films where he bad guys speak like me and they'll torture their victims to get information out of them to protect their homeland.

I'll define torture for you David: Having to put up with the constant mewling and whining from the bleeding heart "blame America" liberals who want to coddle and pacify the radical Muslims who have made it their life's goal to destroy America...and with the help of useful idiots bleating about their 'rights' they cannot help but be encouraged about their chances.

Neo,
I can see that you're suffering organ failure right now. As Dan Quayle once said, "it's terrible to have wasted ones brain.

Ayman al-Zawahiri applauds you, Rufus. He too, is rooting for the Deliverer's victory over McCain...
You're in good company. How does it feel?

Neo,
Funny, last time I talked to Ayman he was rooting for McBush. He said something about the last 7 years being so good to some organization he belonged to and his thinking was that with McBush the good times would continue.
He talked about how the reputation of the US had gone down in the world and what a good recruiting tool that was.
I didn't know you knew him. Odd, he didn't mention you. I'll send your regards next time we talk. I could see where you guys would hit it off. You sound so much alike.

Odd that Ayman al-Zawahiri would root for McBush, with terrorist attacks being down around 80% in Iraq and their organizations in disarray worldwide. Perhaps he is somewhat of a sadist who likes getting his ass kicked?

Your spin is kinda funny, but mostly pitiful. The jihadists have made no secrets about their support for the democrats. al-Zawahiri is on record praising their efforts to surrender, while at the same time raging about their lack of balls to end the war quickly after the mid-term elections. Seems he feels let down right along with the code pink gals who put all their eggs in the democratic surrender basket back in '06 only to find out (too late) that they lacked the backbone to end the war as promised. What's a jihadist to do? Even their undercover man, Jack Murtha, is losing influence...with the Haditha Marines he accused of murder being acquitted. Sux for you guys, huh?
Still, there is hope...and change...change you and Ayman can believe in. Never admit victory. The democrats may yet be able to save face and say "I told you so".
