We should encourage immigrants’ education
Your editorial, “No to open enrollment” (Aug. 15), is both surprising and dismaying, especially since you sound the dismal and forlorn hope that Congress should try again. When was the last time Congress solved a societal problem?
Let’s suppose an illegal immigrant is admitted to a community college, gets training or education, goes on to citizenship, gets a job and begins paying taxes. We would praise such an individual.
On the other hand, suppose an illegal immigrant with lofty aims is denied community college entrance. Such a refusal would breed discontent and make employment difficult or impossible. Gang life would become attractive, and criminal activity, tempting. Should a jail sentence follow, we would pay 10 times or a 100 times more than the cost of state-funded education. Classes to teach English as a second language are not merely a social or business accommodation.
Common sense says we should give support at the state level without waiting for weasel-worded congressional action designed more to garner votes than solve a problem. Anyone ambitious enough to seek more education deserves unqualified support.
Politicians can rant against illegal immigrants to curry favor from voters. I expect more from an enterprise whose writers are themselves graduates of institutions of higher education.

Let’s suppose each Kid from our immediate family is offered and accepts then absorbs training or education, gets a job and begins paying taxes. We would praise such an individual.
Why do was assume "illegal immigrant[s] with lofty aims" can only make it in America, and then only with college entrance? We should be motivating these lofty heads to take advantage of the abundent resourses in their homelands, where there are planty of resourses and opportunities - sucked up by an oppressive few .. yes I'm including the Corrupt Tyranical Governments, often propped-up through short-sighted USA g-man action and policy as well as the eeeeeevvvvviiiiiiilllll Global Monster corporations that are make a living if not a fortune of the situation.

Pete,
If you and others who have your mindset would expend as much energy encouraging the higher education of America's poor, you may be part of the solution rather than part of the problem. You seem so set on spending American taxpayer's monies on illegals instead of the poor children of our nation. Contrary to popular belief, we do not have unlimited enrollment nor resources for our places of higher learning.

'Pay me now or pay me later'...
New catchphrase of advocacy minded groups/individuals whose aim is scare society into acceptance of their favorite cause.
Let's suppose we install a few divisions of the National Guard at the border, with orders to shoot, to stop these potential gang members from entering in the first place, and let those with "lofty aims" pay taxes to their own government.

Pete is right . . .
. . . we can afford to help out those, whoever they may be, who want to learn and better themselves . . .
. . . the price and return value is greater than . . . footing the bill for food stamps and welfare down at the hood . . . while driving around in jungle beat ragged out BMW's and Caddies . . . looking for the next victim to jack . . .

"Let's suppose we install a few divisions of the National Guard at the border, with orders to shoot, to stop these potential gang members from entering in the first place .. "
Isn't that EXACTLY what the Commies did with the Berlin wall? Officially the wall was there to keep the Westerners out.
I await Neo's learned and unbiased non-stereotypical response.

Real Peter Man.
Do you have any statistics how many are here looking for the next victim to jack vs. here for a more gentle purpose?
I await your learned and unbiased non-stereotypical response, too.

"Let’s suppose an illegal immigrant is admitted to a community college, gets training or education, goes on to citizenship, gets a job and begins paying taxes. We would praise such an individual."
My crystal ball foretells a rather different scenario:
Admitting illegal immigrants to community colleges would ratchet up pressure to take the next logical step: putting these students on a path to citizenship. On reaching age 21, they could then petition for legal status for their illegal alien parents.
Legalization of students not only would ultimately reward the parents for their illegal behavior, but also would put into motion chain migration of extended family — thanks to the "family reunification" provisions of the 1965 Immigration Act.
Many educated foreigners are waiting patiently for permission to migrate to the United States. Who deserves our favor — those who respect American law or those who have demonstrated contempt for it?

One could argue that the Berlin wall worked. It kept the westerners out and let the commies stew in their own workers' paradise until they could take no more of a good thing.
I'll be happy to stew in America without the influx of gang members, drugs, disease, 'Press one for English', and lowered '78 chevy caprices with 20 inch chrome wheels blaring carnival music.
(sorry, couldn't resist the truth you call a 'stereotypical response'.)
And, yes...I'll be more than happy to pay a few extra cents for a pound of tomatoes or squash.

My thoughts exactly Neocon, we go all over the world sticking our noses in someone else's affair. Yet we can not close our own boarders?
Rockhead, do you think if someone breaks into your house, you have the right to defend it?

Pete,You said: Politicians can rant against illegal immigrants to curry favor from voters.
Why is that do you suppose? Could it be most voters don't don't want these criminals in this country?
Make no mistake, illegal immigrants are breaking the law by sneaking in to this country.
Posted on August 21, 2008 9:15 AM
Pete,
Let's suppose one of those illegal immigrants steals your SS# and wreaks havoc on your personal world. What then?

"Isn't that EXACTLY what the Commies did with the Berlin wall? Officially the wall was there to keep the Westerners out."
Been reading revised history again, LC/DD? The Berlin wall was built by the communists to stop the permanent exodus of East Berliners to the prosperous West. Properly documented Western nation citizens were never prohibited from entering East Berlin, except during times of diplomatic tensions.
Posted on August 21, 2008 11:08 AM
I feel compassion for the children of illegal immigrants too. But you can not allow deliberate violation of our laws. The illegal immigrants are breaking several laws to be in this country, not just immigration laws. They commit identify theft, fraud and conspiracy. They create a culture based on contempt of our laws and contempt for our institutions. They create a market for criminals to tap into; and they have. Have you not heard the comments in the Hispanic community about this national discussion and how easy it is to rip us off?
The “oh it doesn’t matter they are not accountable for their actions” is an insult to all the legal immigrants who waited and did all that was required of them including learn English. It is an insult to all the people waiting their turn now. It is not OK to pick and choose which laws you feel like obeying. We either are a nation of laws or a group of people in chaos.

"Politicians can rant against illegal immigrants to curry favor from voters."
Politicians are *supposed* to curry favor from voters. It's when they curry favor from foreign nationals living here illegally and corporations (corporations are not citizens) that bothers me.
It's a politician's job to serve the citizens and no one else.
But it would be better to stop the ranting, seal the border with force if necessary, then try to figure out what to do. But seal the border first.
Of course, both Presidential candidates are sucking up to non-citizens and their advocacy groups such as "La Raza", which means "The Race", as in "ethnicity" or "skin color" or "nationality." Wonder what race they mean? Leaves me to wonder why the two main presidential candidates are courting the favor of a race-based group.

You people are falling into a trap.I have a family member that works for the DMV and they say it is definitely not the humble hard working Mexicans we need to focus on,If the general public knew what OUR STATE allows on a daily basis with immigrants from other countries,we would all sit down and probably cry.
We all wonder why DMV has the reputation they have just pick someone out that works there and listen to the stories they have, and oh by the way it makes me always remember while driving around to always look twice.

“One could argue that the Berlin wall worked. It kept the westerners out and let the commies stew in their own workers' paradise until they could take no more of a good thing”.
YEA - So let’s follow that example!
We’ll spend a few hundred billion physically securing the border .. you can suggest here-in how to pay for that. Then relax until we can take no more ... which ... following the same “business” model” … will of course lead to a massive destabilization of the country, initial mafia take-over and control of industry followed by Big Government taking back that same industrial base using tax codes as the legal tool for the re-birth and maturing of a fascist state.
Great Idea, Neo.

I’m still looking for that ratio of illegals trying to do better for themselves and their families vs. those joining gang to sell drugs for a living and using the back seats of lowered '78 Chevy Caprices with 20 inch chrome wheels blaring carnival music to spread AIDs.
I don’t say these stereotypes do not exist, clearly they do .. but am fairly certain these are primarily second generation illegals, not the first, and still not too sure how many of them there really are. At this point, it’s just another asshole statement – an opinion as everyone has.
Posted on August 21, 2008 7:04 PM
Dog Breath - if someone breaks into my house, I clearly have the right to defend it – but that is a second choice.
My first choice would be to not have to even lock my house because no one will need to steal from me. When I was a kid, that’s how it was .. robberies were very few and very far between – in fact I really can’t remember any in the small town I grew up in – except for minor vandalism from privileged asshole teenager .. like me and my friends. I did “jack a car” once .. actually it was a neighbor's for whom I was working (cleaning his chicken coop); I took his spiffy British Racing Green Karmann Ghia for a joy ride, hit the garage door when I was returning it, then paid for the repairs. I was broke all summer.
http://www.hotrod-rockshow.com/show97/karmann.jpg
What has changed? Actually we had a fairly large immigrant population because this was in Kennett Square PA which was at that time the Mushroom Capital of the world filled with migrant workers picking fungus growing in the dark in piles of manure .. we also had no real crime.
What has changed? I’m sure it was LIEBURAL leadership .. considering since then the R’s have lead for 28 of the following 40 years .. yep it’s the overwhelming influence of them damn bully pulpit Whitehouse democrats. Or ask Tom; he swears one little ol’ judge in California totally ruined this while country.

Hugh - YOU are the one revising history.
You state what everyone knows “The Berlin wall was built by the communists to stop the permanent exodus of East Berliners to the prosperous West.” …
... but that was not the topic.
I clearly said "Officially" ... discussing the official rationale used by The Socialistic Unitary Party of Germany, a.k.a. the Sozialistischen Einheitspartei Deutschlands, a.k.a. the GDR. They called the Berlin Wall the “Antifaschistischer Schutzwall” - the Anti-Fascist Protection Wall - officially built to keep Western spies from entering "worker's paradise" and to shelter the East German people from the ravages of capitalism. For the average child all this was too complicated, so the typical parent told the typical child that the wall was built because as bad as things were in East Berlin, they were far worse in the West, and the wall was there to protect them from the Westerners who would otherwise surely flood into Germany.
fwiw .. in 1982 I walked the wall then went thought Check Point Charlie to spend a day in East Berlin. The experience will remain ingrained for my life time.

SNIPING ASIDE .. seriously … Here’s what’d I’d like to see:
I’d like to see a real campaign to reverse the family reunification provisions of the 1965 Immigration Act. Tom has a valid point.
I’d like to see a real campaign to reverse the Constitutional provision that automatically makes US Citizens all those born on American soil. If Scalia is true to his heart he’ll fight it tooth and nail .. but it’s a way out-of-date clause.
I’d like to see the time and effort and money spent on this stupid wall everyone’s talking about being redirected into helping the economies of Central and South America. With that goes the rhetoric about “building democracies” in the middle east being re-directed to “building democracies” in our own hemisphere. Unfortunately, American leadership has a history of building in Central and South America political power bases which is exactly wrong.
I’d like to see the Drug War redefined. The Fed’s seem real good at cracking down on Crack Heads, but every study I’ve read along with simple common sense tells we are treating the symptom and not the cause. That coca and the other “self-medications don’t come from the US-of-A; they are an integral part of the trillion dollar tyranny and corruption racket. See the above paragraph..
I’d like to see the simple I-9 form enforced. It ain’t perfect but it’s a tool. The Fed’s seem real good at cracking down on Meat Packers, but other industries seem exempt - Building Cleaners and Roofers to name a couple obvious ones. With that goes some way to deputize local law enforcement that seem powerless to do anything.

Complete and total anarchy and pandemonium on a scale never before seen by man...the collapse of nations and their monetary systems, the rise of mafia style governments...all as a result of securing the borders.
"You'll find folks here are generally not too good at looking things up or providing facts."
You'll also find some here that, when someone else eats their lunch, they are apt at spreading bullshit over several posts and calling it facts.

BTW, I too, spent some time in East Berlin during the cold war era. One of the most forgettable places I have ever visited. Old bombed out buildings, relics of the war, that were refinished on the outside for the tourists to see, but uninhabitable. Old outdated factories belching soot out of smokestacks that would make algore rupture an aorta. All this under the watchful eye of the commie guard towers who had strands of bobbed wire and mine fields on THEIR side of the wall. Common sense would dictate those mine fields be placed on the infidels' side, don't you think?
Posted on August 21, 2008 7:54 PM
"Common sense" has nothing to do with the actual location of the mine fields.
I never said the USSR failed exclusively "as a result of securing the borders" ... it was a broad and obvious swath of scarcasm.
... as for "spreading bullshit over several posts and calling it facts" ... put 'em up buddy. Start by showing everyone the official and original position of the GRD with regards to the Berlin Wall. Show me up .. here's your chance.
What else did I say: That the R's have held the whitehouse for 28 of the following 40 years? Yea - prove that wrong too.
.. that I'd like to see the stat's on the ratio of Illegal Immigrant Gang Members there are vs. Regular Folks trying to do better. Do that one instead.
Put up of shut up ... I'll hold my breath ... and let tell-it be the arbiter.
Posted on August 21, 2008 8:30 PM
I wasn't really arguing the strategic import of the mine fields. Just a broad and obvious swath of sarcasm...
Also, my estimated ratio of illegal gang members to hard workin' folk is unofficial, but reliable. I count the number of empty Corona bottles I pick up from my yard Sunday mornings, divide 12 million by that number and subtract the number of students enrolled at the local elementary school that speaks no english. It's about 40/60...60 being the hard workin folk.
You oughta unbutton your collar...lie back...take that chip off your shoulder every once in a while dude...I'll bet a smile would crack your face...typical liberal. (sorry, couldn't help but point out the truthful stereotype again)

I have a strange sense of humor, Neo, but those that know me understand my humor is broad, real, a bit dry - sometimes very subtile, often "out there", but if anything too frequent.
There is one thing that get's my goat, though, and that's the BS about important things passing for knowledge upon which others make decisions that affect me. You're always talking about Lieburals "stealing your money" .. it comes from the same source: others making decisions that affect you.
I have no problem with a portion of my earned dollars going to some broad society benefit .. as long as it is well spent and a true broad society benefit. We may differ on what are indeed "benefits" .. but I think I'm more careful than you about digging out the shades of gray. For example, you hate Universal Health Care, but you seem perfectly OK with the Polio vaccine .. which was one element - a very suuccessful (meaning benefit for the public dollar - of an early Universal Health Care Program.
To me that proves there can be meaning benefits for the public dollar in a modern day Universal Health Care Program ... yea it'll have to be well structured and highly limited ... but it is possible. To just diss' the concept continually and without thoughtful commentry is between stupid, disingenuous, and just plain-ol' Southern Ugly ... but frankly that has been your hardened position.
I also lose my sense of humor when someone calls me a lying bastard .. which can be easily inferred from " someone else eats their lunch, they are apt at spreading bullshit over several posts and calling it facts".
As for your sarcastic attempt to rationalize "It's about 40/60...60 being the hard workin' folk". .. I'll bet in reality it's closer to 90/10 .. maybe even higher with the first generation border jumpers. After all, American business would not hire them if they were slackers like most long term American Workers.
FWIW - My primary client has a factory full of long term American Workers ... your 40/60 rull does apply there, but in reverse: 60% being the bigest bunch of whiners you ever heard, most of the day literally spent just counting the days until retirement.
I have also done a few million dollars worth of roofing projects - that's hard work, brother. Hardly a word of English is spoken up there - all overseen by a white guy who "show's well", and typically directed by a brown-skinned foreman who speaks both languages. Ditto the building cleaners. I've not yet been in a meat packing plant.

Rockhead, so what I think you are saying, not quite sure, we should reward people who break into our country. So a American family, has a baby and pays mega dollars to get it delivered.
Jose jumps the boarder yesterday, and get his delivered compliments of the America taxpayer.
If my bother chose to send his children, to a NC College, he would pay out of state tuition, Jose jumps the boarded yesterday, and his kids, go for in state tuition. So what I think you are saying is that we should reward law breakers! Rockhead you have one thing right, the DMV is a major problem in this state, are either they are following orders from the corrupt liberals, that run this state. My wife could not renew her license because, she did not have a paycheck with her ss number on it. Wonder how all the ILLEGALS get theirs.
Posted on August 22, 2008 5:50 AM
How much money do you estimate the roofer saved by having people who spoke not one word of english do the job..and do you think it and other similar projects taking place across the country every day is worth the estimated cost to American taxpayers of illegal immigration? And I'm sure the roofing contractor passed all the savings from hiring the illegals on to his customer, right?
You're all about 'fairness', being the big hearted LIEbrul that you are, right? By what dollar amount did the brown skinned roofers suppress the wages of the one, or possibly two, white folk left in the country that DO work and are not just counting the days until retirement?
Do you have any stats on how many of these roofers' offspring receive 'free' school lunches? (or 'free' school for that matter) Do you have any stats on how many of these roofers drive their caprices without insurance? How many without drivers license? I have a friend who is the chief of police at one of the outlying communities locally and he tells me they are overwhelmed by the number of illegals that are involved in fender benders and when they are called to fill out the reports, they find the offending illegal without a driver license, insurance, or even valid ID.
PS: thanks for not delving into the chemical makeup of the East Berlin smokestack soot and how it can't be compared to today's co2. I fully expected about 15 links to environmental websites that prove today's soot, produced primarily by America, is much more deadly than that old commie soot of the cold war era.

Bog Breath .. what you think I said is so far off the mark I do not know how to respond.
1 - a American family, has a baby and pays mega dollars to get it delivered.
a - Should be An American family
b - This American family (or their employer) probably pays insurance which in turn pays the mega dollars
2 - Jose jumps the boarder yesterday, and get his delivered compliments of the America taxpayer.
Please revisit and show where I have supported that.
3 - Jose jumps the boarded yesterday, and his kids, go for in state tuition.
Please revisit and show where I have supported that.

"How much money do you estimate the roofer saved by having people who spoke not one word of english do the job .. "
I do not know .. but it seems a near industry standard.
"Do you think it and other similar projects taking place across the country every day is worth the estimated cost to American taxpayers of illegal immigration?
I'm not sure because estimates of the "estimated cost to American taxpayers of illegal immigration" range from Billions positive to Billions negative.
I do know my preference would be to have the owners pay more to have bonefide American roofers, with those bonefide American's putting in a good day of labor for a fair wage.
"I'm sure the roofing contractor passed all the savings from hiring the illegals on to his customer, right?"
Actually, that is correct, in his bid proposal. The owner is not obligated to check the I-9 paperwork of the contractor - and when looking at a $500,000 bid vs. a $700,000 bid, the owner's choice becomes too easy.
"By what dollar amount did the brown skinned roofers suppress the wages of the one, or possibly two, white folk left in the country that DO work and are not just counting the days until retirement?"
I have no idea. I do know roofers (in this area) make between $10 and $20 / hour (depending on skill level, etc.) and it takes a select people to be willing to work for 10 hours a day directly in the sun while standing on a 120'F roof surface. Interesting to me, most of those guys dress in what would appear to be really hot clothing: long sleeves and pant-legs.
"Do you have any stats on how many of these roofers' offspring receive 'free' school lunches
(or 'free' school for that matter).
Nope. Is we assume the 7.65% fica wages go un-claimed, that 0.765 x $15(average)/hour x 2000 hours / year (a very conservative estimate - these guys also think nothing of working 6 days a week - in fact they request it) = more than covers 'free' lunches.
"Do you have any stats on how many of these roofers drive their caprices without insurance?
Nope. That's what firing squads are for!
How many without drivers license?
Nope. That's what firing squads are for!
"I have a friend who is the chief of police at one of the outlying communities locally and he tells me they are overwhelmed by the number of illegals that are involved in fender benders and when they are called to fill out the reports, they find the offending illegal without a driver license, insurance, or even valid ID."
That's what firing squads are for!
Seriously then - what cha gonna do about it - the $100 Billion dollar Security fence across the Mexican Border?
I propose plan "B" .. see above.
==
Sorry to have not met your expectations about the relative soot content, but I'll try:
due to prevailing wonds of the Norther Hemisphere, East Berlin Soot ends up in the USSR or China, which I'm perfectly OK. China's soot (and there's a lot more of it) has been shown to drift to the Oregon / Washington State areas.
I'm confident American soot is far less deadly than that old commie soot - or new China soot for that matter. This is of course due to the diligence of soccer moms that support the less radical causes of the environmental wacko's .. who have not been wrong about everything .. unlike the Project for a New American Century.
Happy now? Good!
Posted on August 22, 2008 8:36 AM
"Do you have any stats on how many of these roofers' offspring receive 'free' school lunches
(or 'free' school for that matter).
Let's do that again .. assume the 7.65% employer + 7.65% employee fica wages + 15% (?) IRS taxes all go un-claimed, that 0.3 x $15(average)/hour x 2000 hours / year = $9000 which covers both 'free' school lunches and 'free' school .. for at least on child.
Maybe we should have a one-child policy, ala China ... hmmm that brings up the ice-pick in the back of the head solution, which surely you object too, even if they are nasty brown kids.
BTW - the wall in China was both ineffective and stupid.
Ineffective: The Mongols simply walked around it, and when that became impractical they went over the older areas that had deteriorated while the new ones were being built.
Stupid: In the end, all the marvels invented or developed by China (paper, silk, gunpowder and rockets to name a few) were delivered to the West using the trading routes developed Ghengis .. and everyone was happy.
Most "conquests" were not really "conquests" because the city-states had learned that for a mere 10% tarriff, their local products would be distributed across the known world and they would als benefit from access to products made elsewhere. It was the proverbial economic miracle .. amd to think the Chinese government tried to stop that with some stupid wall.
Be careful with the parallels please - the difference is the proposed Mexico wall is a one-way street. Instead we should be encouraging the immigrants to stay home and send us their goods in exchange for our goods. That's why the Mongols were so successful: the world in 25 years.

We could assume that...
Or...
we could look at some facts:
http://www.cis.org/articles/2004/fiscalexec.html
"This study is one of the first to estimate the total impact of illegal immigration on the federal budget. Most previous studies have focused on the state and local level and have examined only costs or tax payments, but not both. Based on Census Bureau data, this study finds that, when all taxes paid (direct and indirect) and all costs are considered, illegal households created a net fiscal deficit at the federal level of more than $10 billion in 2002. We also estimate that, if there was an amnesty for illegal aliens, the net fiscal deficit would grow to nearly $29 billion."
This study is four years old. I'm not too optimistic about the numbers getting any better in the last few years.
"$10 Billion" to secure the borders doesn't sound like too bad of a deal now. A wall is not necessary. Enforcement of the laws that are on the books will suffice. Illegal immigrants are just that ..."illegal". They are welcomed into the fold by the democrats and liberals who need a new voting block, but this doesn't excuse criminals.
"That's what firing squads are for!"
No, that's what the National Guard is for.
Posted on August 22, 2008 6:40 PM
I support stopping the flood of Immigration .. I just think "The Wall" is beyond dumb as a way to stop it.
Are you saying it'd be OK to spend $29 billion annually on shooting immigrants? I would look for a better way .. and plan "B" is both cheaper and more effective than target practicing National Guard.
Posted on August 22, 2008 8:10 PM
neocon,
Your are an extremely dangerous person pulling quotes on studies from where ever and not knowing what the hell you are quoting, illegal households created a net fiscal deficit at the federal level of more than $10 billion in 2002. Can you please explain the economics of a net fiscal deficit from the illegals. Does that mean that all the illegals working their butts off are shipping their cash back home or what? Is their not a a net fiscal surplus of the cheap labor and services this group provides. Really, hood wink those that do not understand, or perhaps you do not understand yourself. I suggest that you read more and stay away from the quotes and articles you do not undertstand.
Posted on August 22, 2008 8:28 PM
No, I'm not saying it OK to spend $29 Billion annually on shooting immigrants.
National Guardsmen at the border will discourage the flood of 'illegal' (that's a word you liberals seem to sweep under the rug when discussing the recruitment of new voting blocks) immigration you seek more than imprisoning the border guards that are there doing their job...imo, of course.
molly, I was hesitant about posting any links containing facts about the cost of illegal immigrants to taxpayers because I knew those who have a desire to see this trend continue, for whatever reason...personal relationships with illegals, benefiting personally from the cheap labor, creating democratic dependency for voting block purposes, whatever, would attack the source and tell me "I don't know what the hell I'm talking about".
Just one problem... it's not my study that came up with the numbers and you can find a variety of sources that pretty much say the same thing...give or take a few billion. The 'Center For Immigration Studies' based their numbers on data collected by the Census Bureau, not "where ever".
As for how much the illegals are sending back home, I have no figures on that yet. I plan to create a formula using the collected Corona bottles before I try to find out...just to see how close I am. So far they have proved to be ball park accurate.
I've been called many things, but this a first for 'extremely dangerous'. It was cRock-o-...feller who was calling for the firing squads, hon... not me.
Posted on August 22, 2008 9:31 PM
Neo' right, Owner-of-Molly (Your a guy with a dog named Molly, right?)
I, cRock-o-...feller called for the firing squads.
Neo suggested for the National Guard, to be hired at Tax Payer Expense, monitoring the new wall and border to capture those who just traveled on foot hundreds of miles across a hot dangerous desert to give their life savings to Mexican business men for an escort across the USA border in orer to pursue opportunites that exist near ther home but are not available to the average Jose due to corruption and crony tyranism.
Once the nice men - and women (since we're inthe 21st century!) - from the National Guard find these folks who just risked everything, they will escort the poor undertroden to a shelter, provide them with food [their choice of McDonald's, the official sponsor of the Wall, or Taco Bell, for a taste of home cooking] and water [purified no doubt] - which they certainly are in need of - and then provide comfortable cots for a few days R&R while all medical needs are met, open festering sores treated, broken bones set, etc.
Then the National Guard will help them onto an air-conditioned bus for a ride south - a few dozen miles to the other side of the border - where they will be discharged - hold the handrail please - back in what is for about 1/2 of them, their home country, albeit still a few hundred miles from their actual home.
From there, the potential illegal immigrants can start walking north again in hopes of, this time, slipping through the dragnet.
This is a much kinder and gentler way, wouldn't you agree? This is why we love our very own compassionate conservative leader, Neo-Con.
Thank you so much for showing me the ere in my thinking, Mr. Con.

"Neo suggested for the National Guard, to be hired at Tax Payer Expense, monitoring the new wall"
False. Totally false. You introduced the spectre of a "wall" to conjure up false images of a modern 'cold war' because you knew you had nothing to rebut the fact that illegal immigrants are costing US taxpayers out the wazoo.
I suggested the NG, who btw, are already being paid by the taxpayers to defend our borders, be deployed at the border.
It's usually a good rule of thumb to follow the money. I'd like to know what's your stake in this? Do you benefit from the cheap labor provided by the illegals? How many employees do you, or the contractors you use, have a number of 'undocumented' immigrants working for them? Any stats on that...?
Your last post is indicative of one that has now resorted to tear jerking court room drivel used by trial lawyers in order to gain sympathy for their client because the evidence against him is insuperable.
