Worth a thousand words

This is in response to the Aug. 25 letter from Svetlana Krylova. She was wondering if she was the only one who found something wrong with the poster of Stalin hanging on an outside wall behind some Georgians playing backgammon in the Aug. 21 edition.

No, she is not. I had to rub my eyes to make sure I was seeing what I thought I was seeing. I do not claim to know a lot about the relations between Georgia and the United States, but I sure know a picture of Stalin when I see one.

Here’s to that old saying, “a picture is worth a thousand words.”

Hey, Sheryll, Josef Stalin was born and raised in Gori....which happens to be in Georgia. He was revered for decades in Georgia, until Georgia declared independence. There are still remnants of older Georgians that still revere Stalin and his memory. Heck, there is even a museum still there in Gori, although no one goes there much any more. A picture may be worth a thousand words, but don't always assume that the picture tells you everything that you need to know. Younger Georgians favor a democracy and refuse what Stalin was as a ruthless communist dictator.

Josef Stalin was enabled and propped up by the government of the US to the misfortune of over 50 million victims of his genocide and over 35 million more when the fashionable movement of the time moved south into China. These midieval wars go back centuries. The grudges are older than the US Constitution. In the 90's, Clinton the trailer park bomber, got into the Croatian, Albanian, Bosnian and Kosovo wars, claiming a peaceful initiative. In '99 the Orthodox Christians were persecuting the Muslims. Clinton sided with the Muslims and they won. Two years later the Muslims returned the favor from protected safe areas. In the war in Macedonia in 2001, Bush the Dimmer was pissed at the Muslims and changed sides. But the USG was helping the Muslims at the same time. Bush the Dimmer claimed that if he did not, the Muslims would be overrun. The USG ended up backing both sides. This insanity is rewarded by second terms and lifetime pensions. Now shortly after a bailout of the Russian markets, US blood and treasure are being offered by the neocon BushLite and BushDark the neObamacon to a StalinLite puppet dictator. This picture may not be worth any words but it costs thousands of human lives and misery associated with it. Put whatever value on that you choose.
